The article mentioned 50 bags of meth so if he was smart (which we already know the answer to) he could have split it up.

I think the sad part is the drugs are being smuggled into the US instead of the other way around.

Although the article did not provide a definitive answer one way or the other, I fot the impression that the drugs were being smuggled out of the US and into Mexico, not the other way around.
