| Anyone building a Matt's Offroad Recovery XJ?
I have been following Matt's Offroad Recovery on youtube and for those who have not seen his videos he owns a wrecker service located in Hurricane, UT. As part of his off road recovery equipment he uses a slightly modified Jeep XJ that is surprisingly capable. Today I saw one of his posts that they are apparently going to offer a model of the XJ for sale. I have no details but from the pic it looks like they are going to use the 313mm Cherokee hard bodies like those sold on ebay. It got me to thinking, I have an Axial Jeep XJ body on one of my TRX4 chassis and it is easily my favorite rig. I also have a couple of new unpainted Axial XJ bodies and it just occured to me what my next paint project is going to be. I was just wondering if anyone else had given any thought to recreating a yellow XJ. Last edited by Inspector86; 06-02-2020 at 09:30 AM. |

Never heard or saw that show. Just did a Google search. In my opinion your Jeep looks much better. |

Oh, and the model they will be offering is more like a small hotwheels, it’s not a 1/10 scale RC as far as I know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hmm... Not what I was hoping the title might refer to. And agree the red Beasty looks much beefier than the yellow one. Is that a true Warn winch? Sent from my S61 using Tapatalk |

I like his youtube channel. It's funny to watch some of the dummies he pulls out. Some people have no common sense lol.

That would make more sense. I just saw a reference to it and then could not find it. That is just one reason I hate fakebook.

I have been seriously thinking about doing this to my TRX-4 Bronco when the original body gets in need of replacing. Thinking of using the axial JK body. I see they make the milestar patagonia tire in 4.7" so it would be perfect I think.

Love that channel and recognize some of the places he ends up. He inspired me to start looking for a 1:1 XJ to turn into a trail truck.

I was going to, but then painted the body green instead haha. It'll be cool to see someone do it.

Here's my rendition of the Yellow Banana: Not as good or accurate as the one posted above but I like how it came out. |

Very NIce! BTW, Welcome to RCC! I hope you stick around and join in. This a is a great group with a lot of RC knowledge. I quit going to the FB RC groups because there is just too much mis-information and flat out wrong information posted there. I think your truck may be the one I saw in a post on Matt's FB page. Where did you find the door logos? Last edited by Inspector86; 06-02-2020 at 09:37 AM. |

Same here and this is what ended up following me home. I'm currently in the process of painting a second Axial Cherokee body to match it.

For the logo, I printed out a logo I found on his website, covered the back of the paper with a pencil, taped the paper on the body and traced over the logo to transfer the outline. Then I painted them with a tiny brush.

I have watched several of his videos. A recent one where he rescued an XJ that fell into a sinkhole was pretty crazy. Other times I'm just amazed that people try taking their cars and crossovers out to some of these places. Quote:
I love XJs. With a few mods, they are very capable rigs. Great wheelbase, lots of clearance, good approach and departure angles, and fairly light weight. We took mine out to Sand Hollow for Winter Jamboree and ran Plan B. Still havent gotten around to replacing my steering box.
