Default Exceed Mad Torque RTR 6x6

Yes I know Exceed is the black sheep of the rc world. But I recently picked up a custom flat bed mad torque 6x6 and need some advice on what other rc manufacturer parts will work on it. I've scoured Google and forums to no avail and haven't found the information or parts that I need.

I need:
1. Steering linkage and servo (waterproof)
2. Knuckles
3. Tires
4. Replacement motors (3 of them)

I also have some general questions sense I've been out of the rc world for awhile. Last time I had a rc, lipo batteries weren't readily available.

1. Can I cut the factory power lead of the speed controller and convert it to newer ID connectors?
2. Would it be better to just buy newer speed controllers sense I have 2?
3. What is a solid and reputable multi channel receiver and transmitter?

Thanks ahead of time for any and all help. And I hope this is the right place for these questions.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS...

Most likely your best source for direct-fit upgrade/replacement parts is Aisatees.

Linkages can be made, just use Traxxas rod ends and 4mm all thread. Servos are also fairly basic, you'll want a servo with a good amount of torque (> 400oz).

Connectors: Yes, you can replace them. I would not go with Traxxas ID connectors, they are difficult to get and a pain to work with. My connector of choice is Deans, used this connector for years, and it just works. A lot of guys love the XT60 and XT90 connectors, and if I were to switch, it would likely be to the XT60.

ESC: It really depends, do the ESC(s) you have now work, and are they doing the job? Most likely you just need to add an external BEC to the current speed control to give your electronics the power they need.

Motors: What size does it take?

TX/RX: Lots of good options here, and it depends on what you are after and your budget.
Spektrum: The DX5R is my radio of choice, lots of great features, easy to program, and reliable. The RXs can be spendy, but you can get simple 3CH DSM2 RXs off of Amazon for $15.
Futaba: Great radios, I find them not as easy to program as Spektrum radios.
Airtronics/Swana: Good radios, but terrible support.
Flysky: This is the budget option. These radios have a lot of great features for the price, but they are cheap for a reason. So people have great success with them, some people don't.
