| Blown shock bladders
I'm running Traxxas hard coated big bores on my Hustler and I've blown through 3 bladders in about 2 weeks. I fill my shocks just a tick below the top of the body, I use a bit of AE's green slime on the cap side of the bladder, and I am meticulous about bleeding them before final assembly. Anyone else having this issue, and if so...suggestions?

um...nope. don't know what kinda terrain you are going through but if those shocks can't handle it then i would say it's pretty knarly. you should give me the location. |

when you screw the cap on, is the shock shaft retracted or extended?

It's a killer spot, I'll be posting some pics at some point. I've tried both methods...shaft extended and shaft retracted. The Hustler runs internal springs for full droop so I figured I'd try both methods of capping. Running weight is 9.5 pounds so its not overweighted, and does'nt seem to be slamming at full compression, as I'm running 100w with 2 hole pistons. I'll keep experimenting with it, just thought I'd see if anyone else had this issue. Thanks guys. |

I've got a couple plastic Traxxas Maxx shocks that keep blowing out the cap. It doesn't take a hard compression, all it takes is to fully compress the shock a couple times. I have no idea why they do it though.

Not sure why it's doing it but to avoid doing it again, you could put a section of fuel line on the shaft. I'd think it would only take a 1/4" at most of fuel line to eliminate full compression. The tubing would act like a soft bumpstop if you did bottom out hard. |

That is good advice though, I'll give it a try just to see how it does; should work great. | |

When you take off the caps check the tops of the shocks where the bladder touches the metal. Sometimes the edges are a little sharp and can cut the bladders.
