| How steep of an incline can a well built crawler climb?
I used a piece of plywood and slowly increased the angle of it to see how steep I could climb before flipping over backwards. When watching Youtube videos of well built crawlers it looks like they can climb straight up a wall... just wondering though how vertical can a good crawler go before flipping over backwards?

It also depends on what type of rig you are using: MOA or shafty. A well set up shafty can do some pretty awesome stuff, but an equally well built MOA will inherently be much better. The experience of a driver is fairly minor in this type of driving, but a driver who knows their limits and has good control will be able to climb steeper than the opposite type of driver.

This takes me back. Need sandpaper on your plywood. Think we were hitting about 70 degrees when focusing on this type of stuff. I used to drive an hour each way for this rock. |

62-64 deg on plywood with grip tape was the best I could ever get. That was just straight driving up at low speed, no full throttle runs at the board or throttle hopping to make the rig jump.

It all depends on what angle you hold the camera. |

I will measure it next time I am out there but guessing about 80*? Without question the steepest thing I have climbed and close to un doable. To give an idea of how steep it was in person, I first set this obstacle up for the super class and the club got mad at me for thinking it was even possible with a super. |

This one is a measured 77* on my phone and its not near as close to as steep as the climb above. Last edited by Erik D_lux; 02-05-2014 at 06:24 AM. |

A REAL test is with the plywood and grip tape. If you can get 60 to 65 out of it, you doing great. Out on the rock you might be able to do a 87* on the face of a rock, cause most the time the line the tire uses isn't 87*. He can do it, I seen it, he must have fell off that rock, did a 180 and tried again. This is how I test it too.

Lol I noticed that on Youtube also, some people position their camera to look like a huge climb when it isn't
