Kaetwo K2-5, Yota, Wheel/Tire Mounting?

I'm building up a K2-5 and Yota body using pretty much the same set up as kaetwo did on his original build. I am using the stock car wheel with 26mm offset and Rock Crusher X/T 1.9 tires.

Question is, what amount of weight is a good idea to start out with, and do you use the stock foam without cutting? This is my first attempt at building up a scale vehicle. I don't have a set of bl's to use yet for it so I will have to glue the tires. Don't want to have to pull them apart when I am done.
