| help with SCALE
is there a limit on size, or does it just have to look right? I ask because I have a body in mind, but not sure of what "SCALE" it would be. It's the old tonka bronco, barbie dolls fit in it fine so it's bigger than 1/10. maybe 1/8 help........... first pic is stock. these pics with 1.9's on a scx10 chassis, not mounted, just sitting on frame. the width is perfect. need to make a scale rollcage for it. |

If it looks like a real vehicle, then it's scale.

Anything that fits a GI Joe or Barbie is about 1/6 scale. I wish I still had my old Tonka rig. |

measure the wheel base of the toy. divide the 1:1 wheelbase (make sure its in all inches) and you should have your 'scale'. if 1;1 is 100"wb, and your toy is 10" wb then the scale is 100/10=10, or 10th scale, ie 1:10. |

Chop the roof and it'll look more scale.....it's way too tall compared to the actually sides.

Since the top and windshield are so out of proportion (to fit GI Joe in there) using the wheelbase to find the scale will prolly yield something smaller than 1:6 scale. I kinda generalized in my previous statement. 93" / 11.4" = 8.15. So based on wheelbase alone the body is about 8th scale. If your SCX-10 is the stock 11.4" wheelbase. That seems pretty reasonable and it looks good. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 10-22-2009 at 12:31 AM. | |

I am using the same body in a build that I have in the works. After all of the calculations that I did the body is close to 1:8 scale. That is what I based all of my calculations off of. Using a 2.2 wheel it calculates to be a 17.6" wheel. Using a 5.5" tall tire it calculates to a 44" tire. using a 4.75" tall tire it calculates to a 38" tall tire ( I used 2.2 pro-line flat irons for comparison since that was all I had. ) Here are a few pics of mine. First is how I had mine stock ( tires are same size as the flat irons ). This one is with all of the under body removed and a crude mock up job of the flat irons. I am planing a full tube chassis for this one and I will bring the roof down for a more scale appearance. I am planing to keep this one within the rules of 2.2 scaler so that I can actually run some comps with mine. Also I know that "The_Ghetto_Rig" built one of these but I think that he may have sold his. It was a 2.2 version as well. Hope this helps! |
