| Trannies for Scale Trucks
I did a seach and found, basically, only information on Stampede Trannies and Stealth Trannies. Are there any other trannies out there or something I could use as a tranny, that would be a little less expensive? I'm on a budget, and I don't want to spend alot on a tranny, when I have ESC servo, and other electronics I have to get... Thanks for any info you can give. Clark |

You might want to steer away from the Duratrax Evader tranny. I have an Evader ST Pro (that I'm trying to sell, BTW ) and did some reading before purchasing. From what I've read, these trannies aren't what you would call "bulletproof". They need a lot of upgrading in order to stay intact. The biggest thing that I was hearing about going wrong was the idler gear. Even with a 19T, they had a tendency to grenade. I think that you can put a metal idler gear from the Nitro version in it, but then you have a metal gear making contact with plastic gears. Even though we're running 55T motors, the sheer strain that the trannies go through are pretty enormous. If you go with an Evader tranny, check on therczone.com. They have a section dedicated to Evaders and how to fix the problems that might occur.

Thanks for the 411, I was thinking of putting a Invader tranny in my sons 2.2. Think I'll just stick w/ the Stealth! |

No one said this was a cheap hobby. You buy cheap stuff and you're going to be fixing/upgrading parts all of the time, which cost more money. Buy a Pede/Maxx tranny and be done with it. Search, search, and then search some more. Be patient and save your pennies. They can be found for around $30-40. | |

I have an Evader trans that I'm going to use in my scale truck. havent used it yet though. You can buy ALL metal gears for the tranny, so I'm not worried about it. |

spend the money and you wont have to worry about breaking stuff later on You will end up spending double in repairs later on... plus it sucks to break down in the middle of having fun.. Get an alloy pede tranny http://cgi.ebay.com/Aluminum-Transmi...QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by bulletproofcustoms; 04-06-2006 at 09:14 AM. |

I would like to find a EMAXX tranny (complete) or a Twin Force tranny (complete). But they are not easy to find in the FORSALE forum. Can you buy them NEW and COMPLETE from any hobby shops? Clark |
