Default Nighthawk JK

A friend of mine came across this on FB recently and convinced me that I had to build it, so here it goes.

I will use a standard Newbright JK body and modify it to look like the Nighthawk in the pics. I have a complete chassis already so just a few minor tweaks for that.

The biggest issue I have is these buggers...

I'm not concerned about the color or the tires since I have both of them worked out. It's the rims that I haven't had any luck with. Anyone seen any similar in design? The correct scale should be about 2.4" but I think 2.2's will work. Any help would be most welcome.

This be a little slow starting off since I need to finish a couple others first, but once those are done, this will kick into high gear.

Worked on the "fastback" and got it almost finished, then cut the crap out of my finger...so more over the weekend.

Came across these rims. They're the 2.4" size I need, now do I keep them the way they are, or customized to be a little closer to the real ones?

Sorry for the crappy pics.

There's a guy, I think he's on here, who makes 2.4" aluminum wheels that look very similar to the Nighthawk wheels. Imo, those ones you showed don't look remotely close. I'll see if I can find him.

Yeah, my idea is to use just the outer rim and squeeze some sort of 2.2 in the middle. I know I saw a build the other day that someone did an F350 crew cab with homemade American Force rims, but stated flat out he won't make any more and he's not selling the ones he has.

I would be overwhelmed if someone would make these for me, for a price, of course. Motorworx has a nice set of 2.8's but those are too big at almost 5" with tires.

The search continues.

I'm calling this fast-back mod...done.

A bonus for this, the flat gray color it will be finished in, will help to hide minor imperfections.

I'm going for the hood mod next. I like to get the difficult stuff done first, then it makes it easier to stay focused, while working on the simpler things.

I've seen a set of wheels similar to those on ebay in 2.2 size when searching for wheels for my wraith. Might have been Integy or Topcad or something like that.

I was wrong about the brand, not exact style but close

Thanks for the link. Nice rims but not quite there. Trying to find some 2.2's that I can modify to fit inside the 24 series rims I have.
