do you have the leaf springs? do you have the shackles? do you have all the hardware to bolt them all up? its just like on a real truck, sept easier. its very simple. bolt down the leaf spring on to the axle. make sure you bolt it down in the middle of the leaf. then bolt the shackles up to each end of the leaf and bolt the other end of the shackles to the frame. make sure the axle is perfectly 90 degrees from the frame. look at the build ups. im sure its in there some where. use the search

I made my own leaf blocks. Just take a piece of plastic type stuff, i used polypropelyne i think it's called. We use it for making orthotics, but then drill two counter sunk holes in it to mount it, then cut away a little path for the leaf, then drill a little hole for the leaf block to mount to. |

Here are some pics of my setup. On the front axle, use the rear/inner hole on top of the axle. The 1/16" aluminum is there to help distribute the force evenly to the spring around the bolt hole and the 1/8" is for tire clearance when articulated. If you use Norcal's method, keep the blocks as thin as possible due to the distance between the centerline of the axle and the leaf pack being so far already. The greater the distance, the greater the axle wrap. Last edited by chino63; 08-16-2007 at 10:04 PM. |

In your experience, is that one hole in the axle sufficient? It doesn't wallow out or anything? I'm about to make a leaf sprung TLT rig and figured I'd need to grab two holes in the axle, but this would certainly be a lot easier. Thanks! | |
