| Project Scale Toyota Mountaineer dropped bed
I haven't posted anything here in some time.. So I thought I would post my new project. I have seen a lot of Scale Toyota projects by Chino and Disturbinthepeace and others as well.. Well I wanted to tempt to drop the floor of the Toyota Bruiser Bed. I just got the package tonight and began cutting away... Dont CRY guys... Here is a shot with the Sleeper Cab and bed cut out. I will probably put a Tool Box in the back that can be removed like a real Stainless Diamond cut box. Who knows anything could happen at this point... When it is done it will have the floor ribs just like a real one and this is going to have a functioning Tailgate as well... This Bed will be going on a scale project in due time.. I am thinking of Casting my CAB that I have here so I don't have to buy another one... HUM anyone interested? I will try and keep everyone updated once I get the bed sides stripped down and the styrene work in progress.. Thanks for looking. Last edited by Eviltwin_52s; 01-07-2007 at 12:11 PM. |

Nice clean cuts dude, The drop bed and working tail gate is going to be pimp. I have that chev clod bodied Bruiser with drop bed and it gives the truck a really great scale appearance. I cant wait to see more progress, Ill be watching this thread -Mike |

Here are some updated pics of the front of the inside of the bed and tailgate opened up... Rolling along quite nicely I think.. The tape is to hold the insert to the bedsides and tailgate. Of course the pic is just set with the Hubs to see what is coming... definately not going to be a Lowrider by any means.. Next step is to start working on the siderails and sides of the (Inside of the bed). Should be really easy. The front of the bed is still rough, I will have to either smooth it out using JB Weld or Bondo to take out the sharp lines. Here is my Reference Pic that I am going off of.. Of course mine will not have all the clumps of Dirt and leaves... LOL |

Can someone tell me on the 1:1 do the fender wells extend out the same width as the fenders? For some reason I am thinking that they inner fenders are much smaller then the actual fenders. Once I figure this out I should be good to go.

A steady Hand, Sharp Xacto Knife and a Metal Ruler for the straight edge. A lot of my cuts are freehand because the edges are going to be covered up and feathered out to look more like they are formed and rolled like sheet metal.
