Default steering rod length

My WK is pretty much done. Still some tweeking here and there.

My question is the steering link. I think I should be getting a better - tighter steering radius. I thiink this is realted to the length of the steering link.

I'd like to kow what works for others. I am using a RC guy servo mount with the servo horn next to the pumpkin.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks fellas.

I'm not sure how different lengths of steering rod would affect the turning radius. I'm assuming you're referring to the link coming off the servo horn. But the longer you're servo horn is, the tighter you're steering will be, until you max out the knuckles...

Assuming the servo is pretty strong because the longer the horn the more force/torque that will be applied against it.

That's true, there's only so much you can get away with, then it's time to ditch the stock servo. (or use it for dig)

my stock steering linkage snapped today while i was bashing around. are there any cheap tricks to get better steering and stronger linkage out of this beast?

I also noticed the stock setup is pretty weak for crawling. I really want to get this thing into a serious crawler!

I have high expectations coming from steering my creeper around, its got insane steering out of the box.

I bought some threaded rod and some traxxas link ends to make my steering linkage from the servo to the wheel. For the piece that connects the two wheels, I just bought a solid metal piece of ebay.

Because you have to stretch your wheelbase for crawling, the only way to get tight turns is to go 4ws or dig. I don't plan on doing any comps, so I'll be hooking up 4ws sometime in the future.
