Default My Blazer King build.

Here's my build thread for my Wheely King crawler build. I'm wanting to eventually convert the truck to a scale crawler, but for now I'm gonna make it a crawler/basher. Been working on it little by little for most of the day. Here's what I've got so far....

HPI Crawler Conversion
Integy 65t Lathe Motor
Tamiya CR-01 Beadlocks
Proline 2.2 Flat Irons w/ Memory Foams
Proline 80' K5 Blazer body

Got the bulk of everything earlier today! Still waiting on the motor. Hopefully I'll get it when the mail runs in the a.m.

Got everything out of the box and laid out. Here we go!

Breakin it down a little at a time. Removed the shocks and axles.

Removed all the necessary parts. Looks like a rc bomb went of on my custom work table, aka the dining table. Not much room for hobbies in a single bed apartment. :-P

Got everything swapped around. Getting ready to put the axles and new links on.

Put the front end back on. Working on finishing up the rear. Decided just to lock the rear for now.

Finishing up the odd and ends. Put the stock wheels on it while I put the beadlocks together so I can get a body on it to see how it looks.

Robbed the body off my E-Maxx to see what it would look like. I like it!

Finished one wheel, just three more to go!

All four wheels done! I love em!

Flexin on a Wheely King tire. FLEX!

FLEX!!

Threw on an old basher body I had for my E-Maxx to get some more articulation. FLEX!

Still flexin! Ok, time to get back to work.

Started trimming the body. Put the stock wheels back on to get an idea of how the Blazer would look with them.

Got the body all trimmed but looks like I'll have to wait for the sun to come back up before I can start painting.

Still lots more to come. Stay tuned.....

That's awesome! I've been a fan of the ole green guy for a long time now. The second body I put on the truck is actually just a test body I had lying around and I used it to test out stuff to use on the 50's Chevy body.

Lookin' good man. I'm new to the R/C crawler scene (had a Samurai trail rig...real one) and just curious where did you get the '80 Blazer body? BTW: what bodies fit the Wheely King?

I get all my stuff from towerhobbies.com The body is a Proline Racing 1/10th scale body. http://www.prolineracing.com/p-483-c...0-crawler.aspx The one I really wanted is the one with the cage, but didn't have enough dough.
The Wheely King uses 1/12th scale bodies stock, but if you get the crawler kit it comes with new body mounts for mounting bigger ones.

Default More progress...

Got a little bit more acomplished today....

Finally got the motor today.

Installed it. Didn't feel like makin new tabs so I robbed the ones off the stock WK motor. The pinion I ordered is too small so I gotta do some cuttin on the motor plate.

Got the body taped and ready to paint.

This is the paint scheme I'm goin for. Wanted to do a rust/bare metal interior and a chrome yellow outside so when I hit up the rocks and get some battle wounds the interior paint will show through.

Got the first coat on the interior. Looks pretty good I think. Had to use a copper paint. Couldn't find a brown that would work.

Got the interior almost finished and it started to rain. I'm in the home stretch now though, not much more to go!

There's still a good bit more I'd like to do to it, just kinda tight on money for now. I want to get the Proline western bumpers for it, maybe a light kit, and a roof rack and scale stuff, and maybe a scale winch. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Stay tuned...

I got bored and decided to paint the chassis plates black. I like how they turned out...

Now the chassis's not screamin at ya when you see it with a body on.

Stay tuned for more kids!....

Default Almost done!...

I'm finishing things up now. Here's what I've done so far...

Got the base coat down.

Took a break for a while, ate some dinner, got a nap, now back to work.

Got the top coat down, ran out of paint so I guess this is as much paint as its going to get.

A shot with the Wheely King wheels and tires.

Just got a little bit left, hope I can get it done before the weekend's gone.

Stay tuned....

Default Finally got it finished! For now....

Finally got it finished. Too bad its dark outside or I'd be crawling. There's still a good bit of stuff I want to do, but I've got it where I want it for now and I think it looks AWESOME! Check it out.

With the Wheely King tires.

The custom license plate I made for it.

Keep checking back, because there's still more to do. Like I said I want to get some scale accessories for it, the western bumpers, and a scale winch.

Stay tuned folks!.....

Default Rock shots!

Took a few pix of my Blazer on the rocks.

This little fella decided to stick his head out and see what I was doing, so I decided to move to another side of the rocks.

Stay tuned for more....

Default First run!....

I finally got to crawl with my Wheely King outside today and it was awesome. I think I might need to lock the front diff because there were a few times that the front tires would get hung up and I'd have to back up and hit it again. Anyway, here a video and a few pix.

Oops!

Got my first battle wounds.

So far the paint is holding up really well.

Stay tuned kids.....

I hate you LMAO. That blazer is just bad arse man. I'm gonna copy the paint idea, but I think I may run a Ram Charger instead. Now Stop! LOL. After I came back and re-read my post, I'm only gonna copy the silver under and color outer LOL.
