The wheely/ck drive shafts will not bolt up directly to the axial trans. The axial trans has 5mm out puts while the wheely/ck axles are 6mm. You will need 5mm yokes for the trans. I lucked out and just happened to have some 5mm yokes around that fit up with the the plastic shaft to the axle. I have also found that the splines on the plastic shafts are the same as Tmaxx shafts so there are alot of options but you still need new yokes for the axial tranny. I can post pics if you need.

Axial diffs and pinions work in wheely king axles. If you swap out the HPI gears for Axials, you get 5mm pinions, over/under drive and locker options. You can also get different sized Axial trans output shafts and run the larger Maxx sized 6mm shafts. So yes they work and there's a couple different ways to mate them up

These are the shafts I'm using now- a mix of stuff that was laying around.
The front shaft is half vennom creeper and half wk. The rear shaft at the axle is from a tmaxx, hard to tell but its big! and the other half is wk with a 5mm yoke to the tranny. I think I'm using a 90 tooth spur and the clearance is pretty tight. I'm using the truck as a scale rig right now and the shafts are holding up just fine.
