| Nitro King happy fun times
I bought 2 of these as they were next to nothing cost-wise. They're almost exact to the wheely king except they're nitro powered. I am going to make an attempt at crawling with this beastie. I've already placed orders for some linkage and rear axle straights etc. Does anyone here know who still makes steel tranny gears? One of the vendors here has alloy which I'm going to grab but still I want steel. Pics to follow.... |

front tires out of the box are half'n'halfs I bought 2 kits. nitro is really easy once you do it a bunch at 1st it's got a bit of a learning curve. I have 11 Nitros now and I love them. This kit came with a drill starter which is nice, I hate pull starts and monster trucks don't work with bump boxes as the flywheel is usually inside a frame instead of peeking thru a chassis. I've just finished break in on the engine and really need to tune it but even at factory it pulls the front end up. I'm going to find a smaller clutch bell(pinion) and see if there's any pipes out there for low end I'm going to seriously try crawling with it so....... more pics real soon |

well as far as reverse goes I'm going to see if I can make it crawl forward at 1st. once that is achieved I can use an extra tranny I have from a savage with a reverse gear and see how that goes I also have a spare Tmaxx tranny with a reverse gear but I can't see how I'd make that fit at all |

Man it's weird how the nitro monster was supposed to be a big hit. There was a lot of hype I was reading about both in magazines and online...wonder why there was no huge demand. Pricing was a bit steep at first for just a .15 motor though...but then HPI dumped it so fast it was ridiculous! I thought the idea was pretty cool having a scale sized monster truck instead of your typical off scale Traxxas monster machine...I just didn't like the front tires on it. What was the deal with that it looked like it came off some Power Wheels tread design lol. |

I believe the hard plastic on the tires was supposed to allow it to turn better |

I bought two at that bargain rate as well and have since been trying to sell them on and make a few bob profit but no luck yet. As soon as anything is discontinued people don't want to touch it with a 6 foot pole.
