Yet another BMV II WK build, this is a keeper! Thought Id make a WK crawler using as much of the WK as possible I mounted the BMV ll chassis by using the link and shock mounts and just made a small 3/8" wedge that fits into the link mount and the BMV ll bolts too, very easy and very quick. here are a few pics, should be done for this weeks comp http://www.fototime.com/%7BF693020A-...7D/picture.JPG wheelbase adjustable from 12" to 12.5" http://www.fototime.com/%7B95D3C82B-...7D/picture.JPG right at 6" of flex"thumbsup" http://www.fototime.com/%7B486554AC-...7D/picture.JPG behind the axle steering http://www.fototime.com/%7B552E4A6E-...7D/picture.JPG rear lock outs inside also http://www.fototime.com/%7BF6FC69CB-...7D/picture.JPG here you can see the simple wedge mounts still have to mod the axles for clearance, and the mounts also, hook up the electronics. and install them red squishy's"thumbsup" |

These BMVs seem really cool... I'm leaning toward this with my new wk. |
I think Im going to build a super clod version, with a backbone and longer stiffer rods |
What are the rods made of and what diameter are you using? Looks very clean. Kreepy and I are working on a lower link/shock mount for the wk axle that yer gonna love. Should have em ready to show in about a week. |
1/8" piano wire........dont need no shocks or links LOL |
Well after testing the rig it was apparent that I needed more weight in each wheel, the BMVII works best with about an equal bias corner to corner. I ended up with a total weight tire/wheel combo of right at 10. oz total weight of the rig with batteries RTR is right at 5.5 lbs Articulation is right at 60* now clearance is 3 1/4" with moabs and foams at center plate wheel base is adjustable from 11 3/4" to 12 1/2" with the twist of Allen wrench weight bias is now 50/50 but by moving the center plate froward can go 65/35 balance is perfect now side to side. a few more pics http://www.fototime.com/%7BEC7910A2-...7D/picture.JPG http://www.fototime.com/%7B1DE4E734-...7D/picture.JPG http://www.fototime.com/%7BB6E9FBA6-...7D/picture.JPG http://www.fototime.com/%7B14EA0732-...7D/picture.JPG http://www.fototime.com/%7B79C885A6-...7D/picture.JPG here is a better view of the wedges I made to fit the BMV II chassis to the WK brackets http://www.fototime.com/%7B2F32B974-...7D/picture.JPG they re basically 1/2" tall x 5/16" wide and 1 1/4" long |
looks really capable. Good luck at the comp. |
