| Twin Force
Has anyone had any luck with building a succesfull crawler with a twin force? I sold my clod because i want someting with drive shafts. More realism i think. they are easier to find for les money than a txt. Or are there any other drive shafted trucks that are a good start. i have the ability to build any kind of chassis so that wont realy be a problem. Or should i skip al this spend teh money and buy a txt and mod it.

Yeah, lots of good twin force axled trucks out there. The Twin axles are better than the Xfactors, and are very robust. http://www.gerrish.net/PDRM2635.JPG have fun searching, ryan |

IMHO the Twin is the best rig to start with. Out of the box,it's not the best crawler, but it can be made VERY capible and nearly bomb proof with a few good upgrades. Heres a few old pics of my old set up. I've rebuild a new chassis and new painted new body. I hope it turns out O.K. ,I've dovetailed a Dodge Ram body front and rear. It looks pretty good now but I'm not quite done with the finishing details yet. Heres my old Twin Crawler: |

I'll agree that Twin axles are better, for me anyway. I don't have experience with Xfactor axles,I'm sure they are strong since they seem to hold up decently to Kongs. I do hear quite freaquently that Xfactory axle housings fail. I think it's mainly the brackets on the tubes, but still yet ,it's still a weak point. I've beat the crap out of my Twin axles and the housings have held up fine. The only weak point,IMHO,in a Twin/Mad Force axle in stock form is the factory aluminum ring and pinion. Thats easily upgradable at a hair over $20 each for helical cut hardend steel ring and pinions. I've got both axles locked solid and running Kongs and have yet to break anything. On top of that, from what I see ,the Twin/Mad axles are easier to get parts for. They are also easily able to change the width for stock width, extra wide or narrow. This is ideal for adjustability if you want to swicth axles from rig to rig that are set up for different trackwidths. |

Thanks for the reply, I have both a Mad Force and a XFactor, one is going to be converted into a crawler. I just did not know which one!
