Default What do I need to get jumbo kongs on a Twin?

I just bought another stock twin roller which I plan to run a 12" GiJoe Jeep body for my daughter to use with her barbies. I also ordered a set of Jumbo Kongs so she could drive over anything in the yard.

What else will I need to get jumbos on the twin. I did some measurements on my stock twin force and it would seem that the tire will rub the plastic links.

Thanks for the help.

Apart any consideration for the Jumbo Kongs total lack of traction on most surfaces, and being so hard that they never wrap over obstacles but just bumps back, I would not mount a tire that big on a stock Twin.
Probably the tires will hit the links, but that's minor, you can limit the steering.
Problem is that you will destroy the stock zama ring and pinion, and most probably bend or break the shafts.
The beefy RC Alloy 8mm shafts and steel ring and pinion will put a decently sized hole in your wallet...

However Twin hubs have a 14mm hex under the stock 19mm adapter, compatible with most any Maxx wheel, so Jumbo rims will fit.
The shocks will be relocated like on the Mad Force.

Keep in mind that this will be run with 1 55T lathe and will be used by my daughter and her barbies ;)

1 55T will really have to work to turn those kongs...... Better use two wired in series. Mine goes, but gets hot with only one motor, and thats with stock tires. With two motors it is much cooler.

I'm running 1 65t that I hand wound to a 3.8 to 1 GD600 to a 15 or 16 tooth pinion to a 72t spur and it works good for me.

I've been locked solid front and rear and beating the CRAP out of my Twin with Kongs and now 8 1/2" tall LST's(see avatar) since the day I pulled my Twin out of the box. I've not bent or broke the first axle. After about a month I did strip out the factory ring and pinion and upgraded to the steel helical gear set. You can shim the factory aluminum gears up tighter and they WILL hold up to some SERIOUS abuse. We shimmed my sons aluminum gears up tighter and they are still going strong after he's run it HARD in the rocks.

IMHO,the Twin axles are the bomb, once shimmed up proper, they laugh at Kong sized tires and ask for more. I feel like the Twin axles are the Dynatrac of RC

Raptorman I like your comparison!
The stock twin axles are like stock dana60 then, and with helical steelies, RCAlloy shafts and Savage hub shafts they are Dynatrac ProRock60!

I run stock gearing for now. I bought a gd600, and was going to try a single motor/gd600/ stock trans w/ jumbo kongs. It is being built into a scale Jeep setup right now so that build has since been canceled.

I do have a set of jumbo kongs on narrowed rims that I'd sell if your interested. I bought them slightly used to put on it, then headed in another direction.

If TF axles are like Dana 60's, I have big block super charged power. I was breaking axles and d-shafts until I regeared it to a walking speed.

I think they are great axles too.

I am still waiting on the jumbo kongs but with one 54T lathe and a 15T pinion its pretty darn slow. not quite walking speed but getting down there.

I may pick up a gd600 too after i try the kongs. I hope they arrive this week

Nah,1:1 sucks!

J/K...1:1 kicks ***. It's good to see you in the right direction as far as your choice of rig 35's will work but a little on the small side. I run 35's and I'll tell ya,they work but...37's to 38's are IMHO a MUCH better choice. Hopefully this spring I can pony up and get me some bigger tires, these 35's are BARELY cuttin it. I think I'll stick with 35's on the tow rig

Yes 37" are great, but they are almost double the rpice compared to 35" (on 8bolts Dana60 corp14 axles, comparison btween 35x12.50x16.5 vs 37x12.5x17)
so due to my wallet my 1:1 Chevy is still on 35"...
and being 16.5 rims I cannot lower much the pressure also...
My other rig is a Nissan Patrol, don't think you have it in the States, it's an '85 with 3.3TD, springover +5", 34", Arb and 8274.
