Score!!!! Project 1/6th Jeep Rescue So, i scored this at a garage sale over the past weekend. My wife found it on craigslist! Man do i love that woman! "hey babe, would this be a cool body for a scaler?" They look a little to tall but they get the axle up out of the way and give it that toys r us bling factor... im still undecided but i like the ground clearence. Dang, I need to build my 1/6 Tahoe. The size of the Revo rims and Nylint tires looks right but it looks like it's rollin in da hood. Different wheels would look better. Great find though, I really like the Rescue. That's how I got my Tahoe, the wife found it for me. "thumbsup" |

yalare all nuts, other than the ground clearence isssue with the axles, i think the red rocks look spot on, just the rims look a little small, but i could picture a 1/1 with those tires, the rims with the nylant tires look way to tall, cant you see it. |
I would deffinatly say put some 40 Series Mudslingers under it. That body is way to tall to put 2.2's under, they look tiny. Or some Jumbo Kongs would look good. Just my opinion. |
yeah.. jumbo kongs are WAAAAY too big. looks more monster truckish.. the 2.2 red rocks are the perfect size but the rims are a bit small.... for fun, i blacked out the center of the Revo rims and trimmed the Nylint tires cutting off every other lug.. i have the chassis build and mounted to the body.. just working on links and then a winch mounting point and partial exo cage.. ill take some pics when i get home... i hope to have her done really soon here. with a kiddo on the way, free time is very VERY limited right now. The Redrocks look sick but the Nylints give her the ground clearence that is well needed... problemd being. the Nylint tires can only be for bashing.. the 2.2's are allowed in all contests so i will be making the suspension adjustable to allow both sets of tires.... tomorrows agenda - exocage, winch points and winch mount |
so.. here is some tech and more pics for ya! this is what i did to the rims (Revo) I taped off the trim ring and slowly painted the flat black on the front and the backside of the rims to clean them up. it took a bunch of light coats to get it to stick.. even thought the first rock will probubly just scrape it right off.. which is all good... http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0307081431.jpg Here you can see that the body came pre wired up with head lights and brake lights.. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0312081641.jpg not to mention it has front and rear winch fairleads that could be used to run a winch through for scaleness.... for now.. i will just run the winch out the front and have a moch winch hanging out the rear.. it will go to the frame for a tow point.. but thats it for now.. ran outta channels on the Rx) http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...312081642a.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0312081642.jpg here you can see that the top of the roof rack is set to accept lights and i will be installing led's and associated wiring to do so. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...312081642b.jpg here is the chassis that is going to tie everything together. Clod axles and 2.2 red rocks for comps and the revos will be for fun. both are Planet Toys.. both are from good ol wally world.. come x-mas, they come out with the big boys. the Gladiator i got for $20 on clearence and the Rescue i got for $25 at a garage sale.... garage sales rule!!!!! |

I think the 2.2's look absolutely horrid, but the nylint tires and wheels looks freakin bad ass! The 2.2's remind me of a monster truck with the trailer tires on, not a good look. |

so.. i took it out for a run and those redrocks suck ass! i stole the zombie maxx hybrids with black HPI 5 spoke rims off my 2.2 comp tuber that just decided to take another crap and bolted them upon this.. it looks really good! they are about 1" taller then the red rocks and just a hair saller then the nylints.. and being that they are on 2.2's i can comp with it! like it matters... the thing drives like a 300lb wieght... kinda like a nylint! i should put one against the other.. stock nylint against this beast ... i be the nylint wins... i was getting hung up on EVERYTHING.. but that was mainly due to those stupid redrocks.... ill take more pics once i get her back together... Im thinkin of stealthin her out... paint everything thats green - to black... migth look pretty good! |

my winch is a 1/4 scale 805BB with 65lb test... (which ive snapped twice now with no effort) so trust me.. i can get out |

Those tires may work good, but they look absolutely horrible. It looks like you've got some lawn mower tires and rims with a 8" lift. 2.2 wheels and tires just don't work on that thing. 2.2 X 6 = 13.2" rim, yeah not good. |
Hey twisted, I am going to go to Sportsmans warehouse and get more of that line I have. I will bring it to the comp and you can test it out on that PIGGY!! |
