Default 40 mudslingers on a 2.2 rim?

I have a set of 40 series mudslingers, but I want to run them on a 2.2 rim for a true scale look. the 1:1 are a 54" bogger on a 20" rim
so the 2.2 rim would be about an 18" rim. I think it will look better than the 40 series which is closer to a 32" rim it will look way to large.

so.... can I cut the side wall off a 2.2 tire and glue it to the lip of the 4.0 mudslinger?????
will it hold, will it looks stupid???
has anyone done this before, or would it be a waste of time and tires.

thanks

I think they will hold and if you do them right then they wont look stupid. Sounds like a cool idea.

Like Tyler said it can be done. If you are going to do that much work to the tire already you might want to remove some of the lugs to reduce it closer to a true scale size.

I am assuming you are going around 1/8 scale due to your calculations. The 54" Bogger in this scale would calculate down to 6.75" in height at this scale. The 40 bogger measures out at 7.56" equaling a 60.48" 1.1 tire size.

I know there are a few good write ups on how to do both procedures in the tire section and a few vendors that offer cut and shut tires that you might be able to get some good information from.

Hope this helps!

ya going for the 1/8 scale look. and your right it would be closer to about 60" tire. just don't like the 40 rims. they look way to big.

any other thoughts from others, always looking for adition help.

good day

all you need is the sidewall from a 2.2 tire that will bridge the gap, then glue it onto the 40 series tire...its really easy, but will be hard to do without it being obvious its a home glued tire...

When you do this tire it might look like a 1:1 recap tire. What I'm most iffy about is, where are you going to find a 2.2 rim wide enough to look right on them tires??

Are the origional TLT rims 2.2? they are pretty wide, I believe that they are close to 1 1/2" to nearly 2" wide. I could be wrong though

As wide as those tires are you'd be better off with a set of stock-width Clod rims.

I am running a set of the 40 crushers on a custom narrowed set of pro-lines that I cut the width down to 1 3/4". They seem to mount up nice at that width.
