1/6 new bright jeep

Got a few things done on the big jeep project.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/8...34-(large).jpg
MF axles
Summit trans
proline beadlock 40's with moabs
I will switch to rock locks when I get some more $$$
I'm going to try a 775 motor but it might be a bit too heavy so maybe a 550 or holmes puller motor.
Currently waiting on revo ends to make links. Axles will be 4-linked with the uppers mounted on the diff housing with a peice of aluminum, shock hoops for the front are also in the works. stay tuned for more.

You can see a unfinished shock hoop laying on the table, bent fron 1/4" steel rod.

I'll be sure to get some video whenever I finally get this thing running.

MaxxZilla 11-07-2010 10:42 PM

Finally getting over a cold and got some time off to work on this pig.

shock hoops mounted up, upper link mount roughed out, and links mocked up in the front. I need to widen the rear axle then work on upper links for it.

Body is sitting higher then it will when it is all done, I am in the process of looking for wheel wideners or a 40 series rim with more offset to get that full size axles under the jeep, that way it will look better with the 40 series rock loxs.

Thanks for looking.
Little more progress

Got the driveshafts on, and created a link for the front steering. Also trimmed the fenders off the body, not sure about the height, I might try to lower the body a bit but I need to get the rock loxs on before I make up my mind.

Crafted some delrin servo mounts for the front axle, just one more set to go for the rear.

Not sure what happened to that last pic but you can still see the mount so whatever.

MaxxZilla 12-05-2010 11:31 AM

narrowed the axial rims and mounted up the rock locks to see how they fit, I think I'm gunna need a quarter inch or so on each side.

Got the wideners on, I don't wanna go any wider and I can't go any narrower so this is going to have to be it.

it is bad "thumbsup"

MaxxZilla 12-24-2010 10:50 AM

Thanks, thats what I was shooting for. Time is still at a premium and I'm waiting for my esc and BEC from HH. So stand by for more progress and maybe a short video.

This build makes me want to do more on mine. Is the summit transmission two speed and will it have enough power with one motor? I like it "thumbsup":ror:

MaxxZilla 01-16-2011 10:39 AM

Yes, the summit trans is two speed. I have tried it with a 35T motor and 3s and it had good crawl speed in low and decent top speed in high. I have a 14T HH motor to try in it also for more power.

I have got my br-xl and 14T HH hooked up, everything is working good so far, I have no pics since it looks the same just different motor. I need to order more material to make a rear body mount, then determine how much material I will have to trim around the fenders to accommodate the huge tires.

How far along are you with your build??

65volkswagen 01-17-2011 12:27 PM

I have the frame almost done, some wheels and tires, two different types of axles ( do not know which ones to use), that is about it so far. I k ow I should do a build thread but limited access to computer and I am lazy

MaxxZilla 01-23-2011 06:43 PM

Here is a quick test video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9wdm21MwD0

joeyf 01-23-2011 08:38 PM

looks great. what shocks are you running?

MaxxZilla 01-23-2011 10:10 PM

Savages up front and TF shocks in the rear, I had to run shock hoops in the front to get them bolted up and working with the suspension.

joeyf 01-23-2011 10:18 PM

how are the tires working? they looked a little stiff in the video

MaxxZilla 01-23-2011 10:37 PM

I might need a softer foam, I managed to keep the weight lower then I expected so I might have to do something about that.

65volkswagen 01-29-2011 01:48 PM

So what does it weigh?
