Parts to power 8.5 inch tires.
 
I'm gettin my money up to start buyin up my parts for my scaler. I'm running the 4.0 rok lox tires. I'm plannin on going goat 3s brushless and wondering what tranny would be good. Thought of axial but might be harder to hide since I want the motor up front where a motor goes. But I'm clueless on gear reduction/transfer case in the form of rc. Hoping someone can help me with a parts list. Open to all suggestions. Thanks

I'd like to see somebody make a large scale transfercase with a little bit of reduction, like 1.5:1. Theny you could just run the axial trans under the hood. With some kind of dig facing forward to use as a PTO for a winch.

Atleast thats my dream. :ror:

did some looking around and came across these. any opinions? good torque and wheels speed for my tires with the goat and a 21.5 turn?

A little more info on what your building would help.
4.0 Lox, and a goat 3s doesnt give much.
The heavier the rig, the beefier the parts need to be.

i want it strong regardless. i dont want to have to fix it all the time because of the power of the brushless combined with the big lox. but im gettin a 1/6 jeep body and will have tube work. not sure yet on frame rails or tube chassis though. also is there a better possibly less exspensive motor esc combo that would be good? what about a gear reduction unit instead of the disruptor trans. im learning and dont want to waste money. thanks

Honstely bud, what I had planned for it was some Super Bully axles. Sure they aren't scale, but they were wide and strong... or TwinForce axles for shafties.

just tryin to get my drivetrain laid out motor to drive shafts so when i order i know its what i want. its also crossed my mind to put a axial trans in there and call her done

How about a DeWalt motor/gearbox connected to a GCM or ERITEX transfer case. Cheap and strong. Something like this http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/large-scale-rigs/54094-1-6-ranger-build-up.html

im going to look into it alittle more but im starting to lean towards an axial for price. its all still up in the air.

Unless you build a surprisingly light 1:6 rig, an axial trans isnt gonna hold enough motor for you.

Im building a Chevy SS right now, running a Summit 2 speed, and stampede trans for a t-case. its not the most scale setup, but its gonna keep the power in line.

For power ill be running a Kershaw Designs 700HO. ESC to be determined, probably an EVX2 or Holmes BR-XL.

got any pics up? a thread? i was thinkin about running my maxx trans and was looking into kershaw as well. i just heard about them recently. why not go brushless? seems like theres more torque and wheel speed?

Most brushless are not good at going slow, unless it's sensored.

Using a Pede transmission for a trans would probably be OK, but it's a drive transmission and does have some reduction... so the reduction of the summit in 1st gear + the pede might be too much.

Im using TXT axles, so a little more reduction before the axles doesnt hurt. I was using a 2 spd emaxx trans in my last rig and first gear was still too fast.

thanks for the input. its nice to know what i want before i place any orders then realize i dont. right now im thinkin about holmes br-xl esc and maxx trans. depending on the room i have either run the trans in the center or running it up front with a transer case of some sort. which also depends on the power/speed actually to the tires. last thing im pondering on is the motor. im kinda starting to lean towards brushed. but which one? the holmes seems good but again, which one? also thought about kershaw but they seem sketchy because of price and some feedback ive heard. im also planning on running 3 and/or 4s lipo. siggy, cool lookin start. diggin the red axles. also ive already got the 40 lox and with what i paid its too late now, lol.

With the E-Maxx Tranny you can also do 1 or 2 HH 7T Cobalt Pullers.
3SLipo for Crawling 4S Lipo for More High Speed. The higher the C-Rating of the Cells, the better. Beware -- The Plastic Traxxas driveshaft can break quite easy especially with a heavy rig and huge tires.

right right. well im definately not runnin plastics. going with some punishers. also i hope im not thinkin too hard about it. but how come a 7t? j/w. also its says on the site 3s might overheat. your thoughts on 3s and 4s with it?

If you are going to run a puller, go for a 14t on 3s or 4s... they can take it.
