Weekend Warrior I scored a cheap New Bright 1/6th scale Ford Raptor for $30 the other day. https://i.imgur.com/2gAiccAh.jpg I have always wanted one of these big bodies, and figured I would do a scale build. Element Ifs kit is on order, and I plan on picking up a SSD pro 44 rear axle so I have matching gear ratios. I cut some frame rails, giving myself 1/2 an inch on each end extra, so 27" long. Sitting on a 16.5" wheel base and 10.5" wide at the fenders. After tossing the body over the various axles I have I determined Scx10 axles were wide enough with 1/2" wideners and 2.2 wheels.I had a set of Axial Method 2.2" beadlocks. I stretched some 1.9 Pitbull Growlers over the 2.2" beadlocks giving me a 4.75" tall tire in the 5"wheel well openings. https://i.imgur.com/ZQS7DVnh.jpg Ride height will be low, I plan on building a truck that looks like a weekend warrior type. https://images.app.goo.gl/mD6cGFiW2nmqFgcd7 |
Re: Weekend Warrior Dude! This is awesome! I have been looking for the New Bright 1/10ish scale 4 door body for my TRX4. Where did you get this body? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Weekend Warrior That body is a almost direct bolt on to the yeti you just need longer links for the rear and a piece of 1/2" L angle up front Can't wait for the run video |

Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
I did throw it over my Losi Baja Rey, and the track width is to wide for what I was going for. I would have to widen the fenders a bit with wider flares and then I would have a hard body version of my Baja Rey... Not ideal imo... Quote:
Not as excited as me! |
Re: Weekend Warrior Nice! I just saw one of those at Walmart to, same price. They are pretty scale bodies, good for some minor bashing. I built one using a slash 2wd. |

Man, I need to check Walmart more often lmao! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
Agreed, holes for 5mm led's in the headlights and tail lights, can probably stuff some 3mm led's in the markers. The light bar up top could take some 5mm led's as well. Only problem for me is the holes in the back of the cab are kind of large, where the have to plastic bed cage in it. And the windows are black. Quote:
In other news, I stripped the stickers, not vinyl, but paper stickers... peeled right off and left no residue, unlike my Bronco. I also got an axle under my trailer, I think it looks fitting... https://i.imgur.com/zhYBlFlh.jpg |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
Sweet! Looks 100x better without those crazy stickers Is your trailer made out of some sort of thin wood? Looks like 1/4” wood. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

That’s pretty much what I did, except I used 1/2” interior plywood. I wanted to use 1/4”, but realistically I’m probably going to make a new one in a month or so lol. Do you have a thread for it? Mine is just a boring box, I now wish I would’ve added some curves to it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Weekend Warrior Lovin that trailer lol definitely completes the weekend warrior look Just needs some kayaks and some bicycle's |

only documentation I have of the trailer... http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...s-3-0-a-2.html Quote:
Maybe a Dirt bike or two as well... |

Re: Weekend Warrior Got the rear suspension sorted! https://i.imgur.com/9v4J6iWh.jpg 1.4" of wheel travel out back... Aka 11.2" of scale travel. |
Re: Weekend Warrior Parts finally came in, and assembled... https://i.imgur.com/8zWIheBh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vqqqNtJh.jpg This is not the rear diff I will be using... Its geared too tall... https://i.imgur.com/PayWKOQh.jpg Peeking through th bed... https://i.imgur.com/PuwPh5Eh.jpg Next to the classic Honcho!... Note: Tires are the same height, 4.75" https://i.imgur.com/dBYVv5yh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jrtQChnh.jpg |
Re: Weekend Warrior I really applaud you for trying the IFS conversion on this body! ****ing stoked where this goes now. How is the track width; did you use wideners? |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
Track width is 10.5" and I used the wide hubs provided with the Axial Method Ifd's... Seen in this picture... https://i.imgur.com/8zWIheBh.jpg |
Re: Weekend Warrior How is the scrub? What servo, is it struggling? |
Weekend Warrior This is going to look so good with the IFS up front! It would look even better with a Chevy 1500 body, because you know, Chevy does IFS. But definitely still awesome! [emoji1690] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Weekend Warrior 09 F150 > 09 Silverado. At least as far as 1:1 goes. I love me some Chevy trucks but the 07-13 were an abomination. |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
I 1000% agree, I was just saying it would be cool to see an IFS underneath a Chevy body. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Weekend Warrior I would think since it's ifs, I would try to mimic traxxas slash servo set up side of the frame or mounted behind IFS on floorboard... hope that helps.. |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
Agreed. I believe it’s the High Country or some weird name like that that has the least horrible looking grille. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Weekend Warrior Do you think it's possible to swap out the rod ends from the steering onto the suspension arms to widen the track width without using (wheel) spacers? Im thinking I may get one of these to try out. |

Re: Weekend Warrior What length are the stock ones? Know how to braze? Pictures, pictures I need pictures. You do a left stock, right stock/modded comparison ? |
Re: Weekend Warrior Quote:
Also I found a rod end twisted, thus binding, thus limiting travel... Arms level... from center R, 4" to outside bearing face. L, 3 1/2" to outside bearing face. https://i.imgur.com/h3fgdgqh.jpg Arms drooped https://i.imgur.com/8D3xVgmh.jpg Twin Hammers cvd up top, stock on bottom. 2 1/2" 2 3/16 https://i.imgur.com/FNV6y2hh.jpg |
Re: Weekend Warrior So I gave up on waiting for a SSD complete rear axle, and ordered a Scx10II kit axle. A day later, the SSD came into stock... Anyway I built my new axle last night without directions and bolted it onto my Raptor. Now I have matching gear ratios, instead of overdriven rear. I also mounted up a new set of Rc4wd Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. Measuring @ 4.75" tall they fit perfectly. and fill the wheel wells like they should. I will post pics later... |
