dont use the losi motor its too high speed and not enough torque, get something better. like the fegaio. i have a fegaio 12x30mm 5300kv motor. the thing is amazing. great low speed torque and the close to the same over all top speed as the stock motor. it will have the torque to crawl up anything your truck can handle. you wont regret it.

Forgive the naivety, but what are the benefits of going brushless? And will the stock ESC handle brushless?

Better run times, more control and no wear and tear.
You will need a brushless esc.

That esc doesn't have reverse. I've bought a Mystery band esc from the same place and should have read more carefully. Most of the escs from Hobby King are for planes and helis, but there are a couple that have reverse. I've made multiple orders from Hobby King and you cant beat the price, just shipping from overseas takes a while.
