BWD Micro Barrel Nuts/Widener Kits - Update

I know this has been an issue for a very long time...and I finally have an update.

I have a small batch of samples arriving here this Saturday of my micro barrel nuts turned from brass. If they check out, I have an order for a few hundred of them being produced from brass that would be able to be here within a couple of weeks.

Interest still???

Don

Yes Don! Count me in for 2 sets! (8 pcs). I really hope they fare better than the aluminum ones.

They should be a massive improvement over the old ones...and now as long as they pass spec should finally be available constantly! The shop running them just happens to be a shop set up for SMALL precision turned parts

Awesome! I can hang with brass. A bit of weight and not as sift as the aluminum bits. Thanks for keeping us updated!"thumbsup"

Are they going to be painted or coated at all? I run in mud and water and really don't want to get my nuts stuck (pun intended). I'd personally prefer aluminum, but if all you can get is brass, I'll take what I can get! Been running without rear-steer for far too long!

You could paint the outsides, but the paint on the threads would come right off the second you install them. Plus the paint can get chipped and promote corrosion. Then again, I might have another idea for taking care of that...

At the end of the day, I REALLY don't want my nuts to be frozen to the stubs when I forget to clean out the water after a creek run. Worse than losing one on the trail.

Here's a pic of the samples...which should now be in my hands tomorrow. As for brass being a problem...the alum nuts strip too easily, stainless costs too much (at 14 bucks per nut my cost), delrin I don't think will hold up well either (and would cost a great deal more than the brass nuts)...which really leaves brass as the only cost effective option. If you're gonna be running through water, I'd put a drop of antiseize on when installing them.
