| Anybody else done this?
Shaved my rear axle pig on my trail trekker. That lil screw kept getting caught up. Now it glides smoothly if bottoms out, keeps better momentum now. I was wondering if anyone has done the front axle. I glued the seam made from removing the screw. But was thinking about all the torque/binding from the steering & weight I have added will split the front if i try that. I dont want to break it. I'm going to shave the 4 screws heads that hold the hubs on all the way around next for sure but I'm debating in the problem I could run into shaving the front axle screw under the pig. The difference in performance on the shaved rear is just that lil bit I needed in some hard spots on my course. |

I think it was on the mod list. I removed the screw and removed and smoothed the plastic, but didn't bother gluing anything.

Don't think I'd have actually glued it just in case something goes wrong with the worm gears inside the axle housing.

OK! SlamBaam..OLD,OLD,OLD. Awesome I get lots of advice then. Perfect, never had a micro crawler so would of never looked in the bible. You can get lost in everyones custom BS. I didnt sand so the glue will crack off w a pick. Going to do the front then. Now need to find a thread on how to raise the steering which is the next thing getting caught on stuff, but isnt a priority since the axle is right behind it & lower. The C-hub screw heads are next, do thos aluminum axle parts help w ground clearance? |

I'm Not Madjones, but I'll answer on his behalf. Those are the Hot Racing one piece rear axles. They do away with the dog bones for a one piece axle shaft, and they do away with the rear knuckles that never stay aligned. These are designed for the Micro Crawler, NOT the Trekker. If you're running a Trekker these will effectively narrow the rear of the truck. If you wanna run wideners in the back make sure they are specified for a Micro Crawler, NOT a Trekker. The Trekker wideners and barrel nuts are longer for the Trekker's longer stub shafts. | |
