Harley's GC3 Mini Build |
I always try to build my rigs with the best of the best. This build should follow that same theme. Specs:
The axles and drivetrain will get the usual treatment of alloy upgrades for strength and performance. This will include lockers, knuckles, C's, steering links, CVD's, driveshafts, etc. |
OOhhh Harley, we have some rims you might like  Not seen to the public yet. muhahaha |
I'm doing the same thing, my build list is almost identical to what you have listed (G3, Vendetta Shocks, Mongoose, Rovers). We differ on the servo (Hitech 645), Wheels (Dark Souls), and Radio (DX3S). Also the standard Losi upgrades. Here are some of the items I also picked up you may be interested in... - Duratrax shock mounts - Lunsford Grinders - RCBros Delrin Links - Felsenfest MRC Zero Ackermann Knuckles - Nova's 1.9 Single Stage Foams The biggest sticking point for me was what to do about the steering/servo links. I finally decided that I will make my own using 1/4" Delrin Rods, Traxxas Rod Ends (1942), ProTek 5/8" Set Screws (9006), and a Dubro 4-40 Tap & Drill Set. I am waiting for the knuckles to come in from Germany, once they arrive I will update my build thread. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm considering the ProLine Rockstar body. It just looks cool, I'm just not sure if it is a good comp crawler body. |

Do you meant Futaba S9951? I Binged Hitec S9551 and could not find any info, but Futaba showed up a couple of times. I have to say I do not get the new Vendetta shocks trend at all. But I will surely be watching this build. Are you going to do a BTA steering setup? |

http://www.futaba-rc.com/servos/spec...s-futm0661.jpg It is a standard size servo except for the fact that it is shallow. It is also VERY fast compared to most servos, transit time of .11 sec at 6.0 volts. This should open up a few possible options 8) Also, if you ever get a chance to snag the Vendetta shocks and use them compared to the Losi versions then you will understand. They are butter smooth and........................HOLD FREAKING FLUID. All in all, just a much nicer shock than anything else available. Quote:

Sweet!!! another 30 page 400post 20,000 view build thread:mrgreen:. Meant as a compliment. This should be a great build as all of your others are. Can't wait to see what goodies you come up with"thumbsup" |

In thanks for the chance.... |
Hopefully with this build and being able to run 3s will change your view on mini's. |

The shock selection for the mini's were always something that really bugged me before. I am really glad the Vendetta stuff popped up as an option. |
oh great, you been peaking over my shoulder Josh? I've got darn near the same setup, had it as a roller now for almost a month..........trying to figure out a trick bta steer link for my felsenfest knuckles. i like that shallow servo you've got, whats the torque specs? |
Quote:
Yes, I am hoping this servo allows me to get a BTA setup going. May have to make a custom upper link/servo mount. Torque on the servo is about 125 oz/in I believe. I want it because it is fast and light, slow steering speed always pisses me off with the mini's. Just get ready for this year, I'll be practicing :) |

The GC3 just feels more like a 2.2 rig to me. Much more planted, better suspension geometry, better forward traction (granted tires changed a lot in a short time). |
