| About the Traxxas Driveshaft Mod...
...Well, I was wrong; they're not totally bulletproof. Here's what a 3S Lipo and a Mongoose system in a 5-lb. scaler can do: Any other ideas for a stronger extended driveshaft, or tougher yokes than these marine ones? I'm pretty sure MIPs wont be long enough for 10" wheelbase. Otherwise, I have 2 sets of extra yokes on the way. |

Weld you own... I'd use the stock u joints and weld on some 1/4 inch square stock to one end, and the some 1/4 inch ID square round stock to the other. Little grease and it should slide perfect and be ztong as shit Last edited by soundcolor; 05-05-2010 at 08:02 PM. |

The driveshaft itself is fine. The yoke (at the front diff) is what snapped.

They rubbed a little on the motor plate just under the spur.

Those 4628X yokes won't work...the I.D. where it fits over the pinion is too big. Any other ideas? Thanks all for contributing. |

lay off the throttle? I am running 3s and I learned real quick that you have to play it safe if you want to continue running that battery with this truck. | |

sorry guys... I had those marine ones on a TLT truck I got, converted it to the metal ones. I guess whoever had em before must have bored out the internal diameter to right size.

| Haha, no worries! I'm going to keep looking around and I'll post up if I find anything better (which I'm not sure I will). To be honest, I've been pretty merciless with these driveshafts...it's pretty fun jumping this truck off of rocks and pulling wheelies in the parking lots! |
