Default EvilTwin's Mini Rockshow

Here's the spec list:

Hot Racing front and rear lockers
Hot Racing metal gear set
Hot Racing drive shafts
E-Racers motor
Losi aluminum C's & knuckles
Losi straight axle kit
Losi CVD shafts (which snapped too quickly & are now in a box)
Hitec HS-5645MG steering servo
MRC RX & ESC
2s 800mah Lipo
T1e Mini Rockshow chassis
Losi 1/18 Late Model shocks
Losi Mini-T springs (green & blue)
DNA Assassin 1.9 wheels
RC4wd 1.9 X-Locks

With 4th hole back on the upper shock mounts, I'm right at 1 7/8" clearance at the skid.

It's a Mini Rockshow by T1e (http://www.t1erc.com).

I'll get some more pics up soon...and probably some of it on the rocks by Sunday evening.

I really like it alot!

It's not cheap, though. At $125 + you need a set of shocks & springs for another $40, and then a couple packs of T-Maxx rod ends, and then some other spacers, washers, etc. I'm probably at about $180 in the conversion to this chassis.

I had the Team Carnage Crew chassis on it before (and will soon list it for sale). While it was far better handling than the stock chassis, I just wasn't at the competitive level that I wanted. I should be there now.

Cool looking rig! This chassis is so unique. I like the look of the tires too, but how do they do outside? I find that the tires that crawl my couch don't do well outdoors and vice versa.

And just out of curiosity, why did you chose that servo instead of going with a full-size one?

I have a friend that is an RC4wd team driver, and so far, these X-Locks are the best 1.9 tire yet. The only 1.9 comp tires that I haven't seen in action yet (on real rocks) are the HB Rovers. However, they perform better than the Claws, Chisels, Flatlines, etc, and as well as the cut & shut Cobras...probably side hill a bit better.

The servo is a full size. Hitech 5645. I chose it mainly because I had it in the parts bin, but also since, on 2s Lipo, I can get away without a BEC, yet it has plenty of torque for the 1.9. If I went any more powerful, I'm afraid that I'd have to go with a BEC, and while there is still some room, things are a bit tight on that chassis.

Here's a pic of it sitting beside my next 2.2. (oh, and I should have some pics of it on the rocks tomorrow night.)

how are you getting you lipo in and out? is the hood on a hing or something. looks like its behind your servo and to tight to get out.

can ya try to give us some vid/pics off some steep up hill[of course] and some some steep downhill while turning offcamber.

looks sweet.

what about against cut & shut cougars?
I ran cut & shut cougars on my last chassis for 1 comp. Our indoor course is mainly quary rock, and it puts off some dust. The panthers didn't fare well at all on it.

yeah, it looks tight alright.

I can bend back the hood just a little, and there's just enough room to barely squeeze out the battery. If I move the shock position forward 1 hole, I'll have to figure out a different way to access the battery.

I'll see if I can get somebody to take pics and/or video it tomorrow. I'm really eager to get it on the rocks.

looks sweet.
Thanks. I wasn't all that excited about the 1.9 class until I got this rig together.

I have 3.5 oz added to each front & 1.5 oz added to each rear wheel. I'm not sure if that's what I'll keep in, but it's where I'm starting. I'm actually a bit concerned that, since I have the weights on the wheel, under the foam, the weight might be too tall, and rigid & not let the tires fold & hook up on the rock. I may end up reconfiguring the weights tomorrow.

I have heard good thingd about the x locks and rovers.
but so far my cougars have been real good to me.
but they will be pretty worn by our state finals.
I have to get another set made$$$ or buy a ready set like they rovers, ect. keep us informed if you get to compare yours against the rovers.

and that batt. location is TIGHT.
you thought about the futaba S9551? it will give you more room.
I tried one but it didnt work out for me.
but others who are competetive like em I hear.

so the way I take it you havnt comped with it yet right?
how do you usually fair against your competetion with your old truck?

The main reason that I'm sticking with the 5645 is due to budget. I have a couple 5645's, a couple 645's and rebuild kits for them, so I just used it.

I only built this one this week. With my old truck, I ran about middle of the pack, and was never happy with it's performance. With my 2.2, I won our amateur series, and this season, I'm sitting in 4th in our pro series, so I expect to be a bit more competitive than what I had been so far in 1.9.

Thanks for the info. It didn't look like a full-size servo to me so that's my mistake.

Well. I got to run the little 'show on the rocks today. I have to hand it to Rockshow & Silas. They've put together one great performing package. Before getting this chassis, I was about to give up on my 1.9...this was kind of my last effort to like the class.

Today, I ran the 1.9 about 3 or 4 times as much as my 2.2. It was a blast. That little thing just sticks to the rocks.

The RC4wd X-Locks performed well, but the rocks were dusty and slick. The chisels actually performed a bit better today on the flat, slick stuff, but the X-Locks hooked up great on anything that they could grab, and they sidehille great.

I didn't get alot of pics (it's hard to find people willing or capable of snapping a quality picture)...
