Default MRC Differentials?

Do the MRC axles have unlockable differentials or are they just spools?

I'd like to experiment with the scale performance on my Suburban, but I don't want to disassemble the front end.

They are locked from the factory. Unlocking them is not a stock option. I'm not sure if anybody makes a differential.

same diffs as the mini lst/2. they are metal. but they come as basicaly a spool. just the ring and pinion is metal. the rest of the lockers and housing is all plastic. but you could just put the mini lst open diff gears in them. you have to take it apart to change them as far as lockable and lockable diffs. hope this helps. i know this only cause had to hunt down some replaement diffs for mine cause i stripped the rear one out.

Great! I was hoping there were replacement parts to unlock them. Thanks!

Thanks for the LST2 diff tip, Keala.
Buy the diff set for about 10 GB pounds:-
Losi FR/R Metal Diff Gear & Housing Set - Mini LST 2 LOSB0941

It fits the old Losi MRC and the newer Vaterra Slick Rock axles and goes together just fine but the drive method is different.
The MRC half shafts have flats on the diff end. The LST2 has drive pins.
All you need to do is to saw/cut/grind a slot in the diff end of the half-shaft so they fit over the drive pin.
(If I could figure out how to post a picture, I would do so.)
This is an excellent mod for scale fans because it gives you an open diff on a lovely little scale axle.
I'm turning my Vaterra Slick Rock into a mini-monster truck (am I allowed to say that on a crawler forum?) using Tamiya TLT wheels/tyres which are a perfect fit on these axles.

If you want a alternative less pain in the rear gear set to use inside the stock mrc diffs to unlock them use 1/18 vendetta rebuilt set DTXC7448 TowerHobbies.com | Duratrax Differential Bevel Gear Set Vendetta SC by the way if you look here Im2talls MMT - Page 2 on rcmt you can get some better refferences to show much you need to shave an such to make them fit like a glove.
