| Leave transmission dry or ad lube?
I pulled apart my transmission today to track down some weird gear lash sounds I'm hearing and discovered that unlike the diffs, there is no lube in the tranns. Anybody know why that is? The gears were solid, so I went ahead and added some white lithium grease and closed it back up. Was that a mistake, should I have left it dry? |

Might have to try it myself, using a push on mini t gear helped quiet mine down some.(on a trinity motor with splines on the shaft)

I run min with white lithium grease. I did it out of a force of habit. Yes they don't come with grease, but I cannot run a trans without it. It is quieter and smooth I will attest to that.

Another good option is some shock oil. I started doing that when i used to race because it was alot thinner and smoother than the grease they give you. You only need a small amount. And for little cars like the mrc the less resistance makes it that much easier on the motor |
