Jato's Monster Bolt I did a trade with kmnss and I got his Monster Bolt project seen here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/mega-...olt-build.html I'm not exactly sure what my plan is for this one. He did a good job of building it and it looks stout so to start I'm going to get a servo, install the Castle SCT system he included, and run it! I think I want to buy a black SMT10 chassis for the cool and scale factor since I won't be racing it. It might also get 4 wheel steering. The conversion to 4WS is expensive. What is the least expensive way to do this? Here's some pictures once it got into my possession. I'm not sure if the Chevy C10 body is going to stay, but I don't use it it on anything else. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/667/32...94616148_c.jpghttps://c1.staticflickr.com/1/745/32...edaba9cd_c.jpghttps://c1.staticflickr.com/1/755/32...8f5636ed_c.jpg |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Looks good. I like the Chevy body. Did you check the eBay for take off ar60 steering parts? |

I did look on eBay. A front AR60 axle is about $70. I haven't looked for just the steering takeoff parts though. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Nice! can't you just buy the c-hubs and steering knuckles for the rear axle? No nee dfo a full axle. In all honesty these trucks seem to be a bit sensitive on 4ws and people tend to go back to 2ws. Just my view though. ax10 conversions looks so nice. I'm about to do the same with my daughters deadbolt. She has requested a pink body with silvery hearts and glitter for birthday present :) If possible, it should have a disney frozen theme also :) |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt hard for me to tell from the pics. what tire/wheel combo is that? I like the look. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Looks like Proline Brawler wheels and Destroyer tires |

Re: Jato's Monster Bolt I would say keep your eyes peeled and you may come across take off front and rear axles for $90-100. I picked up used Bomber kit axles with under-drive rear gears and Incision lockers for $100. |

Re: Jato's Monster Bolt This truck came with MIP driveshafts. I've never used MIP driveshafts on anything, but is this rusting typical? This is crazy for unused shafts. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/483/31...80df58aa_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/467/32...ce5d3188_c.jpg |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Just surface rust no worries. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Has it been stored in high moisture environments? I'll be honest, the ones on my SCX10 look far worse, but they also have seen parking lot salt in the winter. |

Salt is a killer! I'm going to put some Ballistol on them (gun lube) and see if that helps them. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt If they have been outside they will look like that, they don't really have any protective finish it seems. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Quote:
Oh well. Like you said, no big deal. |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Looking at both exterior of MIPs and your clutch spring , just a bit of surface rust, none seen on the splines. I dipped mine in NeoLube and no surface rusting. My RR hardened pinion shows the same, no worrys ! Hang up and Drive |
Re: Jato's Monster Bolt Quote:
Never heard of NeoLube, but I'll check it out. |
Jato's Monster Bolt Was originally made and sold by Graflex/Singer as a dry lube for shutters . Graphite in alcohol is basically all it is. http://www.p-b-l.com/pbl2002/Neolube.html Hang up and Drive |
