Hey guys, here is a small project I've been chipping away at for the last few months in my free time. It is based on the Oh-35po1 chassis, and a 1/24 hasegwa type II vw pickup. Here's the plan, slight lift small-ish tires and a stock body. Will have real pictures once my sd card reader shows up, should be in the next few days. |

Card reader never showed up The story of this rig began in 2013 with an autocad model based on some inaccurate measurements. Looked ok though. Got them 3d printed at shapeways, again they didn't fit anything well though. And here they were on a ford crew cab that was tragically crushed in the move. Then came a long period of inactivity, after my hard drive on my pos samsung laptop crashed I figued it had been lost. Until a week ago I found a flash drive that had the file on it, score! Now I need to modify the file and get them printed again to fit the oh35po1 chassis. I failed miserably to make them fit the super swampers, but these tiny michelins fit them perfect! (rats nest is temporary) Here is the current mockup stage of the project: |

Took a page from my man jimbo wa and sleeved my links with brass tubing, I used 3/32 and it's slightly large. I really like the look though, looks a lot less fragile. I also ordered a few sets of wheels and tires from fireball models (Fireball Modelworks) , they are SUPER nice, tires are soft and the wheels are very detailed. Highly reccomended They are intended for static models, I laser cut a tiny adapter and glued it to the back. Here's the gold standard in 1/24 offroad tires, aoshima super swampers. I won't be using these wheels or tires on this build as they are a bit too wide but the next will be planned around them. |

Fireball Modelworks They are some of the nicest tires I have seen in this scale, and reasonably priced to boot Update, I decided since I had some kmc rims lined up for the next build I'd go for something a bit more stock on this one. They are modeled to fit the center cap that came with the kit and hopefully are the correct dimensions this time I'll have to see where I can get them printed semi-quickly I'd like to keep this build moving. More this weekend. Edit: Ordered the rims through shapeways $6 for the 4 of them plus $5 shipping in white strong and flexible plastic. If they fit I'll spring for the detailed stuff. The rims showed up and fit like a glove, they are a few mm too wide for my tires. I'll get that fixed and get them printed in a nicer material. Painted two black just to see how it looks, they will eventually be body color. Now on to the body mounts... Last edited by MattTheGenus; 11-02-2019 at 02:17 AM. |
