Id get the axial. So much more aftermarket support and you can mod it. It will out perform the mini z hands down as well. The Mini Z is more of a scale shelf queen if you ask me. Its the one you get when you have all the others and just want a REALLY cool looking mini scale one. |

I haven't got the SCX24 yet. But it would be a no brainer for me. I have poured money into Kyosho before. And want be doing it again. Most unreliable POS I have ever owned. It had all the hope up parts available at the time to make it strong. Used to strip gearboxes gears with a very light duty brushless motor. Then if I got that to hold together for 5mins. The diffs would quickly destroy themselves.

I'd go Axial because Mini-Z's use AAA batteries and those suck. Even if you get the rechargeable they don't last as long as a LiPo.

Man I had a Kyosho ONCE. That was enough. The minute the wheels touched the ground it would either strip the spur gear or powder the transmission. I cant remember the model but it was a 2wd gas buggy. POS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine was a 1/16 inferno elec. still have nitro diffs for it. Never had the chance to bother fitting them. As all gears would lunch themselves. Checked all clearance. Bit of a shame. As it looked well made other than that. But when even after market can’t make good gears. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After some digging I found the buggy I owned. It was a Kyosho Sandmaster 10. Terrible. Got it for Christmas one year. Broke by New Year’s day. So yeah 100% Axial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Sandmaster was a turd, no doubt. I had the ST version and if you didnt loctite the motor mount screws with red thread lock the motor would shift and lunch the spur. Cheaper entry level model woes. That was 20 years ago however.. The last three Kyoshos I have owned have been fantastic. Just like with any manufacturer, some are hits and some are misses. The mini z's are very popular for some reason. Having said that I would agree that for real crawling purposes, the SCX24 is absolutely the way to go. |

When it's released I wanted to love the new Mini-z's. But I can't. Way overpriced, AAA batteries, body sits oddly high on the frame. Nope. And did we talk about their cost yet? Almost 2x the cost of an scx24. The bodies are gorgeous, I'll give them that. But the AAA's and the price tag guarantee that I'll never buy one. |

My first RC was a Kyosho Outrage. Same body (I think) as the sandmaster and same wheels but in pink. Not sure if there were any similarities in the chassis. I had so much fun with that thing, I was kind of disappointed my parents sold it at a garage sale when I joined the Navy. I actually recently found one new in box on eBay and bought it. Should be fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Axial SCX24 is a cool rock crawler. Just need to add weight down low. Picked one up for me and one for my daughter. Only thing I haven’t been able to find is wheels or tires. Everyone is sold out.
