Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course 5 Attachment(s) Finally some traction. Most of the layout has grey color sanded grout covering it. Let it cure overnight and through the day tomorrow. Then I can see what areas I need to tone down/make them easier to drive. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course 5 Attachment(s) Some areas still wet. Literally had just stopped for the evening. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course 2 Attachment(s) The kids wanted to test drive the track today, after seeing the 12-turn power I put in my SCX-10 II. So they played around on just the plaster cloth covered layout. I should have taken a short video , then do a before & after comparison. With the traction added I bet this will be fun all day. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Thank you so much for the great pictures and details. This is giving me inspiration to build one for myself and kids. We have 5 scx24’s now and get them out whenever possible. Being winter now, it would be nice to have a little indoor track to play with. Keep it up! Ben |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course I've had spots that didn't workout well also. Some I corrected by cutting them out with a utility knife then reshaped it, covered with more plaster cloth. Others times I just waded up plaster cloth and changed the contour. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Italia83 - I'm glad you find this useful. Should be fun when it's all done. Gramps - yea I have some small twigs cut that will go well with the layout. Planning to make a little stack to get over a section that ended up with a vertical wall. And then add a couple more twigs here and there. On the first mountain posted earlier in this thread I am going to cut and redo most sections. It just isn't very driveable right now. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course https://youtu.be/LlK7xklUfME Made a video of the track. Turned out way longer than I thought. LoL. Anyway a bit of grout on to finish it up. And tomorrow add some details, try some paint for highlight...pray I don't make it worse. Haa haa haa. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Your wife might believe that you build the track for the kids but we're not buying it. :-) Knock the sharp edge off the 3/4 plywood makes a big difference in the trucks get up on it. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course LOL. Never been married. The kids live at their mom's & her husband's house but I'm there almost everyday. I have a lot of fun in the RC world. I have visions of trucks twisting and rolling as I construct a course. LoL. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course 3 Attachment(s) The little ones were having a blast painting the scenery this evening. LoL. So I'll go back and do some blending. Maybe the oldest will take an interest in color fading...or maybe not and it will stay like it is. |

Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Looking good. Where do you get your plaster cloth? |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Quote:
So for in the future I purchased a big roll on Amazon called Rigid Wrap by Activa Products. This looks to have a smaller mesh pattern than the Overland Scenics' cloth. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Started our first indoor course on MLK day. This is as far as we got. I hope to add a second side to the course and be able to drive over it perpendicular to the way my son is driving it now. *Sorry the picture is not great. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...70260409f3.jpg |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course Thumbs up. Looks like a fine start. |
Re: Indoor Micro/Mini Course That cardboard is really slippery. And the brown wood before the blocks of wood you have to slide down like on the Netflix show Hyperdrive. [emoji12] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8795b1da0c.jpg |
