It's been several years since I've been to elephant rock. Use to go there with Mo-Il Crawlers and Mid Ozark crawlers. Back then I drove a silver Ford Freestyle.

That sounds like I falls between my times in the hobby. First round was back when the original axial Betty was released and losi just released their first comp crawler. Then got out of it when we had to move back where I was from for family matters. Moved back here going on 4 yrs ago, just got back into this when my wife bought me a knightrunner for Christmas last year.

My first crawler was the original Axial Deadbot which I bought back in 2016, I think. This was my 2nd venture into RC's was also into them in the mid to late 80's

That sounds exactly like my story. Started back in 1986 racing 1/10 scale off-road, oval and indoor carpet pan cars. Quit the hobby around 1993-94. A friend of mine introduced my to scale crawlers in 2016 and bought the Axial Deadbolt. Been into it hot and heavy ever since!

Yep that was how I started racing off road in the summer and indoor carpet track in the winter. Started out as fun but as it grew it attracted to many idiots and it wasn't fun any more. From there got into helicopters and boats. after several years of that I got out all together til 2016 even built an off road track in the backyard which I enjoyed.

Strange how similar our paths were

No doubt, that's one of the reasons I got out! Too many idiots that thought they knew too much! It was no longer fun and felt more like a job that I hated.

Was glad to see the new tiny truck craze back in 2016! I think I like the slow crawl better than going fast!

Sorry @tigris99 for the tread derail! I'll let you get back to your build!

@bmow , no worries, this build got set aside for a bit was just accumulating parts.

Build pretty much finished. Currently stock shocks/towers but that may change, haven't even driven this rig and their leaking.... also thinking of putting OD gears in the front.

Moving the rear shock towers to the forward holes gave ot a bit more flex for sure.

Treal diff covers and steering link will be here today. Injora cover will go in the rear of the defender. Don't like the flat faced diff covers.

Bumpers including mount brackets, sliders and roll cage all my design, interior is off thingiverse.

Got the injora brass hubs, diff covers. Going to do testing to see if I want brass or aluminum Cs for it.

Injora high clearance links

Full NSDRC Steering servo set up

Furitek Lizard pro with BT on a Mofo 1900kv motor, stock gearing.

Designed and printed a new battery tray, bit lower and fits packs that are a tad bigger than stock.

Esc takes a little tuning but is AWESOME. Low speed torque is there, was a bit too much at first as it had torque twist from hell. Got that sorted. Low speed control is crazy. Thing will creep for sure.

Also finally completed the first indoor course section. So was able to test is out a bit.
