Default I am Dratch

Whats up guys, I'm Dratch, I have been lurking the forums a while without posting. I've been working on a Wheely King based scale rig for the past few months and this forum has been very helpful. I live in St. Charles and am looking forward to driving with you GSRC guys at your next function. I am currently building a bed for the HpI Bronco body and I'm 50% done with the paint job.

Here is a pic of my project. The inside of the body is done, I am painting the outside of the shell Pactra Competition Orange, with a white roof. Man I cant wait to scratch this thing up!

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome. sorry I couldn't make it out Sunday, I dint get my steering finished... I am going camping in Sullivan this weekend, so I probably wont make it this weekend. If I get my paint done, I'm going to take my truck with me and do some driving at Meramec State Park. There are some good trail areas and plety of caves. I went with the Bronco body because the other choice was a Jeep, and who wants to drive a Jeep? Besides everyone else...

@Nacho, I lived in Florissant before moving to St Charles. We used to ride 4 wheelers near your Lindbergh crawl spot.

Hey Dratch, you going to beat me to getting out there, lol. Granted I know NOTHING about that place, so your probably going to be better at finding places we can run. I have been dying to get out there just to scout and go camping as well. Have fun and take plenty of pics if you get a chance.

I got my paint done, and I'm charging batteries. I will be at Meramec State Park Sunday around noon, if you wanna make the drive come on out. Its a big park so if you are coming out shoot me a PM and we can meet up!

So far my build is pretty standard.

Reversed WK Chassis (flipped axles)
Diffs locked with Green Stuff (Milliput)
25mm collars on rear shocks
Brass tubing lockers
Axle mount servo ( Thanks to Jowetts Kustom RC for the pattern)
STRC 30deg Links
Axial ball ends
Motor, ESC and Gearing are stock

After a few test drives I am pleased with the truck. I will be doing a chassis/suspension swap in the near future and there's much more to com for the body. I am curious what it takes to mount the WK transmission in the XTrail chassis. As for the body, I am working on a full interior and bed. I will be sculpting a driver as soon as I have a place for him to sit.

Heres a pic from one of my test drives.

Thanks for the info on this site, it made this project alot smoother than most I undertake.

Dratch

Hey Dratch, I MIGHT be able to get away to come out, i was planning on the run anyways, but depends on a couple factors.

Nice WK, kinda look familiar, lol. Jeff's old one had similar paint scheme

As for the Xtrail, if you wanna start doing rigs like that, ditch the WK trans, its WAY to tall to be of use on the Xtrail. AX10 Trans are CHEAP, best is that route or like an R2, something with lower CG set up. I have 2 Xtrail rig, both Axial based. If you want more pointers on using an Xtrail chassis, let me know.
