Default Kansas City northland KCI area

Hello I'm crossing over from nitro and am wondering if there is a practice area/hang out? If not, where is a decent place a noob could see if this is the right hobby. Are hikingttrails better than a pile of rocks? My rig is a bone stock wraith poison spyder" .

Welcome to the addiction, always nice to have some more northlanders on board. (where you located) Kinda hard to answer your question on trail vs rock pile (you gotta find what YOU like).

That being said...if your not busy today you should roll out to Goat HIll and try out both! Jerry was planing on having it open from 10-4 today. This place has everything, damn near guarantee you would enjoy it.

I'm not very prepared for an away day outing, as I still only have 1 pack for my rig and zero extra gear for the wraith, the savage on the other hand,well....! I haven't even wore the new rubber smell off yet,LOL

Look under the goat hill adventure series link. It is a awsome place out near the old kcir drag strip in independence. Jerry is the man. He has put together a great spot.

Your real close...I'm just on the west side of 169 between 68th & Barry. I have a bunch of trails/creek/hill climbs and such behind the house. And another one of our newer members has a nice thing working in his back yard (south oak). Will have to get something going.

I've been thinking about checking out Line Creek or the Smithville Dam. I'll have to catch the next GoatHill event, today is a Savage XL's open heart surgery.

There aren't many of us Northlanders glad to see another I'm over north of Parkville, Route 45 and 9 Hwy.

Northland areas are pretty scarce sadly, if you enjoy hiking than taking the rig with you on the trails is a blast. The mountain bike trails out at smithville are great. The Dam area has some OK crawling rock, the spillway side can be a little bit of fun for a beginner. Line creek has some scenic photo-ops but is really light on decent crawling. Most of our rock up here is pretty covered up it seems. We are always looking for new stuff though.

Welcome to the board man, hope you enjoy crawling/scaling

I have found a great place to run my rig with a little bit of everything to give me some practice at the wheel. I don't see where I can post any photos of the terrain. Although while I was driving the trails I could see what looked like small trails(RC size) mapped out with small timbers and the cool thing is its real close with in 5min.

To post pics you need to use a 3rd party like Photobucket. To host them on the forum you have to be a star holder.

A star is a purchased subscription. A green star is $20 a year and there are several perks: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/payments.php

Maplewoods, yeah BC and I have hiked that before. Fun little spot and there are some nice rocks just to the west of the entrance and down by the creek bed.

I'm wondering if there is anybody in the northland that has the Tekin Hotwire pc interface software that would be willing to help me out. I am getting a HH motor when it arrives and I am wanting to fine tune the esc for the motor like fixing the 50%reverse and increase the breaks. Or are they vehicle specific(married to the car)?

I rarely used the Hotwire on my Tekin's. You can do almost everything via the programming on the ESC. That always worked out pretty well for me.

That is a throttle profile setting. You should be able to find that in the manual.
