Default My first Scale build 8x8

I actually started this 8X8 a LONG time ago and have driven it very little. It runs 4 TLT axles, servos on each axle for steering, super narrow wheels, and geolanders. A single pede tranny, with a gd600 and a 35 turn lathe is what makes it go. I topped it all off with a Unimog cab.

Originally it ran 4 leaf springs upside down with each end mounted to an axle and the center mounted on a pivot. Even after adding 4 links to each axle I could never get this setup to work right and control the axle wrap. That along with the fact that it glitched and fell off a 10ft wall and bent the chassis has prompted me to rebuild it. This time it will be 4 linked and running coils.

Sorry I never took any pictures before I tore it down, but here is a quick video.

Sure had some funky steering going on You'll get a lot more traction with a link setup, looked like you only had 3 wheels down most of the time.

I'm sure I won't have the bed done on it, but I hope to get it at least driving.

I remember a LONG time ago, you said you'd never build a 2.2 rig. So did I. Then we both built one. Then, I heard you say a LONG time ago, you'd never build a scale rig. So did I. Now you have one and so do I. I even tried to quit this stupid hobby and here I am. When are you quitting.

So you used TLT axels and two Rig axle cases? With a servo on each axle, kind of a no brainer on how it works... Couldn't tell, but where was the tranny; front, back or middle?

I used TLT axles, the middle ones were modified to have a pinion on each side, then flipped upsidedown to correct the rotation. The tranny is in the middle. When driving it's crazy to look at, the first driveshafts, going from the tranny to the first axles are spinning one way, the driveshafts going from that axle to the other one are spinning the other way. I'm guessing that'll pretty much kill torque twist.

Got a lot done on the new chassis last night, going out to the shop to work on it some more. I also decided to ditch the pede tranny and drop an R2 into it ;)

Lovin it Jason,

I was surprised at how well it controlled I was expecting it to be a bit of a slow coach in the turning department.

Snow performance ....mmmm :-P

Will keep an eye out for the new build up best of luck.

When you get them four linked it will be really cool watching it go over obstacles like a centipede.
