Default Archie

Here is my take on a concept 6x6 different then any thing I have seen out there. Having worked on a couple 6x6's and examined lots of them in person and reading forms I feel as though this should work!

Named Archie because I thought it had a good ring to it.
Articulated R C .H.I.E.? Not sure on an acronym.

Goals for this rig:
No steering axles
Summit Trans incorporated
6x6 (of course)
Custom but not so custom its hard to repair
Tonka dump truck cab
Using mostly parts I have on hand... (and parted out three running rigs...)
Looks good (for camera and myself)
simple and fun to run!

Some thoughts:
Maybe a ps3 controller modified?
Maybe a fully functional Air turret?

So here it was about a month ago:

Sizing and thinking, maybe make a long box out of two boxes?

Now to do no steering axles I am going to do a center pivot or center articulated system. I want to be able to easily replace and remove slop from this system and it to be strong enough. A Summit/Revo hub is what I have leaned towards and this is my original ideas.

Over the time it took me to decide if I was going to post up not I have now gotten the rear frame, both rear axles linked/mounted , trans mounted, front axle/pivot concept to more of a functional state, and decided against the dump box.

Here is where the truck sits tonight! I drilled out the Summit hub and then taped the scx10 axle in till the first shoulder. Sorry no pictures of before. Should be nice and strong! did this as the last idea would have been hard to keep the little driveshaft/sleeve from binding and this should be stronger.

Overall Layout

Rear link setup, middle is 4 linked and rear is a custom 3 link that I brazed up.

Chopped wraith axle

Some articulation and the cab.

Stands as a kinda Roller now, Looking at a 1/5 servo to turn it because of the larger gears. Setup shift servo and get the cab mounted. probably going to mount the battery in the cab. depends on what happens to the back. Going to use smaller offsets in the front to pull the front tires in more.
Should be more info/ better updates now as I wasn't sure if I would post up or not till now.

Very interesting build, I had not seen that set up before, good job

Is that front axle going to be able to move like the above pic, when the body is on?, or is the cab going to move with the front axle?

Cab will be hard mounted to the front axle, a little trimming to the rear most part of the cab and it will all clear nicely.
