The cheapest way is probably to buy a used complete crawler. Just be careful and make sure you know what you're buying. Ask the seller a lot of questions. Building one from scratch can get expensive and there are a lot of great deals out thre if you don't mind one with a little bit of rock rash. |

I agree with Matt, you can find great deals on used comp rigs. But on the other hand building a brand new one you know what you have and you can build it the way you want with the parts you want.

| I have been into RC for a real long time and my advice would be to build a kit. The ax-10 kit is really good. It is not extremely difficult and it goes together very nicely. This way by building you will be able to tweak or repair things in the future very easily. The axial kit has wicked good street price now of like $220 shipped. you still need a servo speedo motor and tx/rx plus batteries and a charger. Your looking at about a $500 investment for new. If you dont have or want to spend that kind of money go used.... |

The cheapest way is to by an RTR Ax-10. But you will modify it soon after you get it. If you can wait a bit, get the new Losi 1.9 comp crawler. |

I started with a used TLT crawler that had link mounted shocks and rear steer. I got a deal on it, and even though I totally rebuilt the thing, I was able to use all the parts from it .. and ended up with an extra servo to boot... after I stripped off the rear steer.
