I run a Hitec 645 MG in my AX10 and it works pretty good for what i do with it and a lot of guys i know run them and like them and they aren't really that expensive...if you look around on here there is a lot of info about servos. I'm gonna water proof mine tonight when I get home from work. All in all its a good servo i have had no problems with it yet and its pretty strong to the only real problem I had was the screw for the servo horn backing out but a drop on blue locktight cured that problem.

Yeah it works great for a 2.2 maybe not as fast when it's sitting still but it still turns while it's not moving I haven't had any problems with mine.

I've been running tower pro 995mg servos. Cheap and strong...I get mine for under $10 and have yet to destroy one, even on my super build. Oh yea, I've had them for 7 months and nothing wrong. I personally can't even get them to warm up...I had a problem with the towerpro mg946r. They kept over heating but maybe I had too much weight in the rig. Haven't gone back to them since so I don't know, but I'd go with the 995mg, a little noisy but I can live with it for the price.

JR Z9100HVT if your running 2S lipo(7.2v) its gonna give 464 in/oz of torque. JR Z9100 will give 364 in/os of torque @ 6v JR Z9000 will give 323 in/oz of torque @ 6v JR 8711 will give 406 in/oz of torque @ 6v Hitech 5955TG is also a good servo, 423 in/oz of torque @ 6v Futaba and Airtronics have also just released 400 in/oz plus servos. note, ALL theese servose new are around 115.00 and up. |

| Big/Powerful Servos are thirsty
I was on the TowerPro bandwagon for the last 9mo, but am finished with them. Proved true to the old addage 'you get what you pay for'. All 3 of them (inlcuding one of the newer models) have gone nuts searching for their end points. When turned to lock, they bounce around searching (twitch). The other question to ask you is what ESC you are running? What BEC voltage and current does it provide? The more powerful the servo you run, the more juice it needs. Your ESC will begin to brown-out or black-out if your servo draws too much. If you go big or powerful with your servo(s), you will want to consider a stand alone BEC (Castle Creations +/-$20, Novak +/-$25). Both put out more amperage, and have programmable voltage. Even if you have an ESC that puts out 6v (most put out 5v), it probably only provides 1-3 amps of current. BEC's like the CC put out 5a. If you buy a CC at your LHS, they can usually program it for you before you get it. Most ask for it to be set at 6V. A little higher is safe. Too much higher and you shorten the life of the servo. I'm in the middle of upgrading my 2.2 to use a 1/4 (giant) scale servo. Hobbico CS-80. $33, Nylon gears but they are FAT. Replacement gear set is <$5. 343oz of torque for $33!! You have to have the space for the pig though. |

Just make sure it's a metal gear servo and that you use the horn that came with the servo rather than the one that came in your kit! -Migs
