Just stay away from 3s lipos, I was running this for a while with amaxamps 3s lipo cutoff and I ran for a while, then she fizzled up in smoke. 8 cell nimh may be ok but I would stay 8.4 v and less

I have never run anything less than 8 cells since I got my Rooster Crawl. It's been almost a full year with no problems.

You can run a 3 cell lipo.. Just unplug the red wire from the bunch and run a reciever pack..

However, if you burn it up running a 3s, it won't be covered under warranty, since it's not rated for a 3s.

I know guys with that same setup that had theirs go up in smoke.

I would stay away from 3S lipo.
