Default Shocks: Plastic Vs Aluminum

I am looking at some Traxxas XXL Big Bore shocks for my Creeper. Is it worth the extra change for the Aluminum ones? The main reason I am replacing the stock shocks is because I am having all kinds of issues with them leaking constantly. 3 out of 4 of my shocks seems to be leaking shock oil. I followed the directions when I assembled them so I don't know what the deal is with the stock shocks. Thanks, Mike

Plastic is lighter than aluminum. IMO, aluminum shocks are more for bling than function on a crawler.

The traxxas plastic XXL and XL shocks work just fine and don't leak, but I do run them upside down.

I've run Traxxas XXL Big Bores on every crawler I've had since day one with no leaks and no issues what so ever...they're killer.

I like the Traxxas plastic ones as well. No leaks on any of the rigs I use them on. I also run all my shocks upside down (with the exception of my son's axial, which is stock right now). I have some decent Losi aluminum shocks but they leak a bit. I have some Duratrax aluminum shocks and I think they leave a trail of slime everywhere I crawl....

look you have to use a sealant on the treads of alum. shocks. And if they leak at the shaft get a good o-ring. Other wise deal with the leaks. plastic is soft and the threads will seal them selfs.

I hate plastic shocks. they pull apart under hard bind situations, do yourself a favor and get some non blingy alum. threaded body shocks and a small can of liquid thread tape.
