Default Making bent links, how long do I need?

Alright, I know some of you have a better CAD program then I do.

I'm looking to make some 101mm 30* bent links. How long of a turnbuckle do I need to order from lunsford to make this happen?

Thanks

Without the rod ends.....

If you need your link to be 4" long with a 30* bend, get some that measure 4.125" long. With a 30* bend,it'll take it down to 4"

Well, I need them to be as long as the axial bent links are. According to the rod itself, without rod ends, its 101mm.

Thanks!

Then you already have your answer above. 4" = 101.6mm

If that's the case, you'd need a turnbuckle that's 104mm. Bend it 30* on one end and it'll then be 101mm.

Or,use Axial bent lowers. Axial makes these handy dandy little standoffs and spacers, just get a 3mm spacer and use a longer set screw.

Thank you for your help, I'm looking to switch to the lunsford rock grinders and needed to know what to order. Machine time is to expensive for me to make these. And i'm looking for a light alternative that is not as bulky as delrin. My rear links are interferring with the axle case on my berg.

Is there a software (hopefully free) that I can get my hands on that will help me figure out lengths with bends?

When I bend my links I use two pieces of 5/16 poly plastic stacked up and drilled at the seam. Then I can pinch the tube in a vise and bend it where I want, and the bend is realy clean.

If I remember correctly, all 4 inks came out to be 1.9 ounces. The uppers I made were made with a smaller size and ended up at only 1 ounce for all 4. Not bad considering they are stainless, they'll slide like butter, won't gouge like aluminum and won't bend or break like delrin.

I'll try to double check the weight,my memory ain't what it used to be.

I see you flared the ends or something similar? Whats the process you used in making these?

The links are stainless tube with aluminum inserts pressed in.

I got a final weight on them, all 4 links minus the Revo ends total up to 1.5 ounces. Compared to the delrin lowers I weighed, they were only a 1/2 ounce heavier.

Thank you for weighing them, I'm going to experiment with a few different materials today and see what I come up with. I'll probably end up ordering some stainless to experiment with.
