which is better TEKIN or NOVAK ?

I was wondering what you guys opinions were on the fxr pro setup and the novak rooster or goat setup ON AN AX10? And has anyone use the tower hobbies ts-170 servo? Good or bad?

ROWDY RACING 05-12-2010 01:46 PM

I don't know about Tekin , but the Novak Goat systems are badass."thumbsup"

I love my fxr. It is buttery smooth, and super adjustable. Don't buy something that will limit you to 2s.

newbe5.9 05-12-2010 01:52 PM

fxr in all my stuff

axeten 05-12-2010 06:37 PM

....

FXR is tiny and takes 3S lipo if you have a 35t or higher. Very easy to program with seperate LED's for each setting.

I havent had a Novak crawler ESC, but if its programing has the same light system that my GTB has, it is very annoying

oldhippie 05-12-2010 06:45 PM

Novak is way behind only allowing 2s.

TNCrawler 05-12-2010 06:55 PM

Sounds like the fxr is the way to go! Is the pro worth the extra money? What is the diff. between it and the regular fxr?

JSN 05-12-2010 07:17 PM

just between those two...FX-R hands down. mind a few other sugestions?

If your strickly going brushed take a look at this....

If you EVER have a plan to go brushless(run's brushed as well) then look here...

Edit to add,

I haven't used the ts-170... it's the same as the hobbico cs-170 or the hitec HS-5955TG... it should do you just fine.

Pro is not needed unless you have some bad A** motors with a lot of draw. I run just a regular FX-R in my Berg with twin tekin 45T's with no problems. If you plan to run a 3s lipo you need a B.E.C

The goat is offered in 2s and 3s."thumbsup"

TNCrawler 05-13-2010 12:37 PM

thanks for the input guys "thumbsup" i think i am going to go with the reg. fxr since the pro is not really needed. i am just going to do the occasional comp and prolly run in the sportsman class. i will only be running 2 cell lipo anyway! does this sound good?

TNCrawler 05-13-2010 12:38 PM

yeah i figured the servo was the same as the hobbico and hitec! people seem to like it so i guess that is what i will go with

JSN 05-13-2010 12:52 PM

What motor you planing on running? with 2's lipo i'd go with a nice 35T for the wheel speed...45T or 55T will work as well IF you don't like very much wheel speed"thumbsup"

jwalker 05-13-2010 04:30 PM

i have an fxr on my moa and love it, i am running holmes 30t torquemasters on 3s on my bully. i have tons of wheel speed to help me grip those slick ledges.

Jkelley 05-13-2010 04:44 PM

I run the fxr. I used to run a rooster when I first got into crawling. I think the Rooster is like the gateway crawler esc. The fxr is for people that really want adjustability. Cant stress this enough, the fxr does allow 3s but better run a BEC or you'll be hitting thermal all day long.

lowandslow2 05-14-2010 06:41 PM

TEKIN no questions asked, its the best crawling esc out there! In my opinion Ty rock rebelz

THE PARTS GUY 05-14-2010 08:31 PM

They are both great brands but in my area the Castle items out sell the others 6 to 1. I sell alot of Sidewinders. Check it out. "thumbsup"

I agree with this also. I also have a sidewinder. Great esc and very affordable.

TNCrawler 05-14-2010 11:26 PM

i dont think there is a need for 3s so i will get the fxr and run a nice 45t so i can still crawl but still have some decent wheel speed.
