| Confused Noob
I'm looking to get into this hobby. But i'm lost at where to start. I like the 2.2 Trucks, but they almost seem a little to much for someone new to the sport and new to R/C. I also like the E-Maxx trucks. I like the fact that they are RTR with everything, and with the purchase of the Mantis Chassis and a few other parts, it appears one could have a darn good crawler. I have read most of the posts here, but I really can't decide what I like better. I was hoping someone here could help. Is the E-Maxx a good truck to start off with? Or would someone be better off building a custom crawler. Over the long run, is an E-Maxx Crawler a simi reliable truck? Which is a quicker way into the sport? Which is cheaper to start off with, the E-Maxx or building a 2.2 Truck? Any help would be useful, Maitias |

i own a mantis/maxx, and it's an amazing crawler. be warned though, it takes a bit of grinding of the stock maxx parts with a dremel to make them fit with the mantis. also you need to be patient while you build as you will be putting parts on to test for fit, then removing them again to adjust, and repeating as necessary. that being said, you will have that to deal with building any crawler, whether it's a 2.2, clod, TXT, maxx or whatever. good luck, and post pics when you are done!

A 2.2 truck will be much cheaper, especially if you plan on buying everything. I have 450 or so into my maxx, including the truck originaly and it's less than half done.

Sounds like a TLT-1 would be perfect for you... you can get one off of ebay for just under 100 bucks and than going over to a traxxas pede style tranny and shafts with a bulu type chassis might be the way to go. It wouldnt cost you that much and they wheel like crazy! I have personally had my butt kicked multiple times by Bulu chassis tlt crawlers. :? im building a clod based stick chassis from Ace hardware and im only about 300 bucks into it and its pretty much done. Search in the vid section... at some of the colorado comp vids you can see tlts rockin the coarse. |

if you were to build a maxx, it would be a mistake to buy it new, just go on ebay and find the whole front and the whole back to make the axels. i got mine for $110, instead of $300+ for the whole truck when you dont need a lot of the parts
