Default novac/lcc...esc too hot...?

i have the losi comp crawler....i am running the havoc 3s esc...with a ballistic 21.5(changed the stator from a 13.5,works great...enough speed and plenty torc it seems so far.)
anyway my esc keeps shutting down cause its too hot...i really like the fact that the lights tell me exactly whats going wrong.
-i do know about taking the diffs apart and removing one shim from each side,ok what if i open it up and there is only one shim on each side.
from what i understand lcc's produced later removed the extra shims...?
if there is four i will remove one from each side.
-what is the best grease to repack it with....
does anything else on this rig cause the over heating issue...?
thank you for any help i will be looking thru some threads as well....but sometimes its just easy for straight answers.

you could have binding somewhere in the drivetrain i suppose but what i got from what u said is that u havent ever taken the axles apart to put grease in them as worms need plenty of grease to prevent extra heat and some binding and from factory the have barely any grease and for grease you can use automotive bearing grease, lucas oil red & tacky (which i use with good results) or something similar

Are you running it on 3s? If so, do you have an external BEC? Do you have a fan on the ESC?

**To ensure trouble-free operation when using 3S Li-Po batteries, always use a 3-Amp High-Voltage Universal BEC (#5463).

The above is from the Havoc spec page.
