Default waterproof a savox 1258tg servo

I would like to use a savox 1258 servo on an Axial Yeti XL. I don't believe the servo is waterproof and would like to waterproof it. If I took the servo apart and sealed the edges with ACE 90% Pure Silicone Grease Waterproof, will the servo be waterproof? Will it at least be water resistant (meaning that I can hose off the servo to clean it?)

I took my servo apart and sealed it with basic RTV for a typical seal on a vehicle. just unscrew the 4 bolts and put the sealant along the edge of each side and tighten it back up. I did this with mine, flipped it in a puddle completely submerged it and it still works fine!

Another problem with waterproofing servos is the area where the servo horn mates to the gear. Either need an O-ring or fill that area with marine grease.

If you haven't alleady purchased the 1258 why not consider a WP servo?

There's lots of good info in the electronics section about how to waterproof servos (including a sticky). Search is your friend. Or buy one that's already waterproof (e.g., Savox 1210) or water resistant (e.g., Holmes Hobbies, Xpert, some Futabas).

the 1258 has better stats (decent torque and fast speed) compared to Traxxas 2075. the savox waterproof ones are only a little bit better than 2075. the more expensive savox wp servos have better torque but not much better speed. for that price, i would rather buy the 1258.

can i use ACE 90% Pure Silicone Grease Waterproof instead of basic RTV? do i need to seal up the servo horn area?

I'm sure that would probably work just fine... I had RTV laying around so thats why I used it. I didn't do anything to the servo horn part. I don't think it would be bad to though
