Default Slash to crawl?

Hy
I was wondering if the Slash 4x4 Ultimate LCG can be fit to crawl.
So I removed the Stabilisator and moved the shock absorber.
Now I need only new Motor/ESC and crawling Tires.
What do you think?

The open diffs would be an issue. You would have to put a spool in at least the rear diff and heavier weight diff oil in the front to make it crawl decent.

It would be hard to keep up with a solid axle crawler/scaler. You will not have any ideal electronics either. Your steering servo likely has a servo saver which doesn't help on rocks. The open diffs will not transfer power ideally.

That's because I ask!
But if I would make it, which Motor/ESC would you recommend?

Jang who posts over on Ultimate RC has done the conversion and has made some really nice posts on the project. You can see the rig from this link without having to join Ultimate RC.

Project: Chimera A -- All-terrain Slash 4x4 conversion

The videos and project log go into all of the modifications that were made to make it a crawler.

You will end up doing some significant modifications to make it work and it will actually cost you more than starting out with a crawler kit. So if you are wanting to do this to save money, you are better off selling the Slash and starting over with a crawler kit.

If you wanting an interesting build, can do the work required yourself and have a spare thousand bucks or so then could be an interesting project.

You can replicate the 'chimera' build. Which basically ends up as a telluride. Independent suspension is good for high speed, but for crawling you cannot beat solid axle.

x2

The other problem is with the length of the chassis, the pan tends to high center and get stuck on the rocks.

It wasn't bad for 2009 when other options like the Wraith weren't available.

if you considerably narrowed the chassis (cut 2/3's off the sides), locked the diffs, got bigger tires and a crawler motor/esc/servo... I bet it'd crawl.

Narrowing the chassis would be the hard part, since on the 4x4 there's quite alot of space taken up by electronics..
